MLB: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones

A lineup featuring Albert Belle, Andruw Jones, Frank Thomas, Omar Vizquel, and Chris Snopek definitely would have taken out the Jaret Wright and Bartolo Colon led Indians that year.

Bench should be one of the oldest and most accomplished in baseball between Andruw Jones, Omar Vizquel, Mark Kotsay and the rumored Henry Blanco.

And I guess 2001 AL Central would probably be more correct.

I don't get signing Jones. He hit .214 for Texas. Why would the Sox want him? You would think there must be better options out there. But as a Twins fan, I won't complain.

Wise is a Phillie, and there is no guarantee that Pods will be back. Once he figures out that no one will pay him big money, he may crawl back for cheap. I'm kind of hoping someone will give him his money and we can move on.

If Thome is signed as DH, I could see Jones getting a few starts against lefties to maximize Thome's value and try to keep him healthy. Overall, it's a blah signing. Similar to Bartolo Colon. Low risk, potential high reward.

Not a huge signing, but no denying he's better than Wise. Overall, team improved.

As a Texas Rangers fan I was hoping to retain Omar next year. As for Andruw...no big loss there, but a serviceable outfield backup/ DH.
