Apparently they called up Aaron Poreda today, it was reported that he let the world know it on Facebook.

It sounds like they'll start him out in the pen, but who knows.

Big lefty that throws 97.

I guess we will find out if it was a good thing we didnt trade him to get Peavy? On a related note, Contreras looked amazing last night...hopefully he is back to his 2005 form

Bullpen huh? Hmmm...I thought for sure Colon was done! And they signed Freddy Garcia again...when is Wilson Alvarez coming back? Alex Fernandez warming up? How about Black Jack McDowell?

Rant over...sorry for being sarcastic and bitter for a moment...still thinking about how bad Josh Fields is!

I concur with the sentiment, bring back Bobby Thigpen, he was great. Beckham can at least field his position even though he is 0-13 so far. They were saying during the Sox game on Sunday that Robin Ventura started his career 0-41 and Willie Mays started 0-34...interesting stats (I am not comparing him to them)

This doesn't have to do with Poreda, but another CWS recent call up. What do you Sox fans think of Gordon Beckham so far? His stat lines have been pretty abysmal, but I haven't actually seen any of his plate appearences. Is he going to turn it around this year or is he headed back to the minors?

I think he's struck out once, so he's making nice contact. He was robbed on a nice catch at least once. I think he should be starting at second, but since Fields has apparently felt awkward about the whole situation, maybe Beckham will keep third warm for Viciedo.

Also sounds like Poreda might start against Milwaukee. Not a whole lot of 6-6 Jewish lefties that can throw high 90s, kinda unique.
