I think too many of you goobers are focusing on McKay to be the mid season savior. I hope I'm wrong about him, but I think the starting 5 stacks up against anyone in the conference. The bench is anything but deep, however they are certainly capable of playing Big XII ball. Like I said though, they are a great team to watch.

Wait, what? What do we need saved from? McKay will come in and do his part. He'll be a stud defender and bring energy. This team doesn't need to be saved.

I finally got to see the Ben Jacobsen quote at the end of the show. Looked like he was just trying to be funny to me. Fred should tweet back: See you in the tournament.

Somehow the theme song to the Buck McNeely show gets more hilarious every time time I hear it. Slowling becoming one of the highlights of watching Soundoff for me...

The team has the 8 players that will see significant minutes and one (Custer) that will see a decent amount and 2 (Edozie, Tsalmpouris) more who Hoiberg feels comfortable playing if needed. That's deep, Hoiberg just won't always show it.

I dont think Edozie is going to be pushed from the rotation. He is still our best chance to defend posts IMO. I think we go 9 deep, with Custer as #10 playing in some games.

That is a deeper bench than Fred has ever had to play with at ISU. There is some size (Edozie, McKay, Nadar, The Greek), scoring punch (Nadar, Thomas), instant energy (McKay)...etc.

I don't know about you guys, but I thought it was really crazy that we had a guy that started a sweet 16 game last year on our last line at the end of a blowout.

Greek won't play once we are in conference play (probably only just garbage minutes). He's just not physical and don't know how to play inside.... yet.

Edozie will provide valuable defensive minutes down the stretch. We are going to need him especially when we play against big physical team like Texas and KU.

This team is 10 deep, I think Custer can do enough to give MM time to rest (especially if he keeps hitting shots).

What i would like to see is our second 5 play against Iowa's starters and see how that game would stack up.

Custer
Thomas
Nadar
Edozie
McKay

Based on the way Iowa has been playing, we still win. Custer, Thomas, and Nader raining threes. Edozie and McKay going to work in the paint and rebounding.

All energy team, but probably not a ton of offense there. So in other words, could still beat iowa.
