Melvin started and played almost all of every game at the three, Fair was at the four, and Walker at the five usually.Did Ejim have to start at the 4 or did Fair?
Most teams have a guy they can bring in to hit some 3's. Lucca wasn't as bad as most people say. His game didn't have a lot of areas of strength but he was still a starter and our 3rd leading scorer.
If we find a guy like that this late in the spring than sign him up
By the same token he wasn't nearly as good as proclaimed. I don't find him starting for many other Big 12 teams. Plus he's a quiter. Yeah, ISU needs another guard just like him
He is a quitter and we don't need a kid with his mentality. Kid with his skill set? Absolutely.
I think everyone can see how much we struggled from 3 point range after he left and say we need another shooter
I personally wouldn't sign up for another Lucca. IMO there isn't a place on the roster for guards who can't 1.Handle and 2.Defend. If Barnes is a Lucca-clone or a poor man's Lucca, then I'd pass. Committing 4 years to a spot player is not a good idea...especially since we need big men more than guards.
Yeah, Lucca started for two years. But, it was two of our worst years in a long time and the primary reason for that was poor guard play. College basketball is about guard pentration and preventing penetration. Work towards that end.
I don't want any svhollys banked. Give me a full roster of kids that want to be at isu. We've run short year after year that to me banking a scholly till next year is silly.
Just curious how he knows Barnes' game... did his prep school play Brewster?
And they have another monster class coming in next year, in all likelihood.
Is there a reason why we shouldn't hire Brewster Academy's HC as an assistant here? Seems to me like he has a solid pulse on D1 talent/potential NBA talent.
Last I heard he loved his job at Brewster-helping kids w/o the pressure or d1 crap that comes along with the job.Is there a reason why we shouldn't hire Brewster Academy's HC as an assistant here? Seems to me like he has a solid pulse on D1 talent/potential NBA talent.
Well if he is a high major prospect what stops high majors from recruiting him? I don't think you can consider Duquesne and Evansville or the other schools he has offers from high majors. It just seems like a wasted scholarship to me. why not wait until we can get someone we really like instead of just scrambling to find someone to fill a scholarship with because that is what it looks like we are doing.
I understand the concern and think it's valid, but how do you know we don't really like him?
