Most ISU fans are scared about the situation up front next year with Malou turning to the NBA (which is understandable) but Holden will help a lot and while everyone is talking about playing 4 guards or playing Bowie, Carter, or Lard at the four spot next to Holden (playing the 5)when needed, the one guy getting left out of most conversations is Young which is a mistake. If this kid was a legit 6-8 or 6-9, he wouldn't be at ISU........but the fact that he's 6-6 (maybe 6-7) is a beautiful thing because that led to him being passed over by many high majors and the result will likely have him playing a big role off the bench for ISU next season and then starting at the 4 for the next three years.

He is not only a skilled player but he is a total junk-yard dog who is relentless on the glass. He will be a Cyclone fan favorite and a guy who will be doing the dirty work for this team the second he steps on campus. He is incredibly strong for an incoming freshman and has solid athleticism which will probably surprise a lot of people.

I have been able to see him play and watch a lot of video on him and he just impresses every time and plays with an unbelievable work-ethic every game.

This recruiting class didn't get a lot of national hype but four years from now, I'm predicting that Jakolby Long and Solomon Young will be leaving ISU as two of its most impactful four years players of all-time.....no not Georges Niang or Fred Hoiberg but two guys that will have helped the Cyclones win a lot of games......just my two cents.....

I'll take another Melvin Ejim. Is that too high expectations? His size, style and recruitment seem very similar to Ejim.

Nice first post

Can't wait for the "Why isn't Solomon Young Getting Minutes" threads next year. Do we have to do this with every freshman.

Let's hope you're right now that TJ is gone. It will be helpful if we have a solid base of 4-yr guys to start with after this season.

I always thought this class was underrated. Some of the early polls reflect that. I have to agree that Long and Young will evolve into high impact players assuming they stay all four years. I have to throw Lard right next to them. All three are junk-yard dogs IMO.

An Ejim-Hogue type player would be fabulous. Last year's team lacked that hustle/tough guy who would mix it up some under the hoop.

Yea really looking forward to seeing S Young and J Long play some..both are very good defensive players and good athletes who just hustle..this years team is going to be a much better defensive team IMO.

Prohm has a good true first class. Can't really judge him fully on last years class with how little time he had to recruit here.

I'm probably more excited about Young than anyone in the class. Ever since he committed and I've watched his videos, he looks to me like he'll bring a level of physicality that we haven't seen in awhile. He seems to feed off of it on both ends of the floor. Really excited to watch him develop.

I was happy to see him work on ball handling. Feel that could help his game the most. Would love to see a little burton added to his game. Would really make him complete.

My prediction. Young will be the cream of the crop when it's all said and done!

If I was a coach I would never red shirt anybody in basketball unless it was my kid. Too big of a chance that they graduate and transfer.

Redshirting makes it less appealing to transfer prior to graduating though since you would sit out 2 years and only have 3 to play.
