I am currently in the process of buying either Softplan or Chief Architect. I need some input on which one to choose. I will be designing blueprints for single family housing and maybe some light commercial. If anyone has any experience with either please send me some feedback. Thanks!

I thought this would be a post of fan made SEZ renderings

Me too.

I cannot offer you any advice but I will share this tidbit. I had to create a floor plan and home design in shop class. My shop teacher told me after looking at my design that when I go to college that it was not an avenue I should pursue.

Hopefully someone will come along and actually give you a meaningful response.

Haven't used either of those, but have had a very good experience with Sketchup Pro, the licensed version of the free software. I use Microstation on a daily basis and AutoCAD once or twice a year, but was very impressed with Pro. Very easy to use, and TONS of already drawn items in their 3D Warehouse. Sorry isn't directly answering your question, but thought I'd through out Sketchup Pro since it has the capabilities of doing what you're asking for.

I haven't used either of those products, but then I work in theatre. I use VectorWorks and really like it. Takes a bit to learn, but nothing like AutoCad. Very flexable, allows you to write *******, can be bundled with RenderWorks for amazing renderings. Don't know how it compares in terms of price since I get an educators discount. Good Luck!
