While I liked Nolan - I really loved what Singletary did today with Davis - sending him to the showers for not being a team player.

they just showed his presser about it. he didn't hold anything back. davis has to feel like a complete tool-and rightly so

oh my lord. I want mike singletary to coach my team. i dont care if it is iowa state, the bears, illinois, the bulls, the cubs.... he is going to be great. he just got me so pumped up i feel like i can run thru a brick wall. that is a guy you want in your corner.

*disclaimer: i love gene, lovie, lou, the zooker (his recruiting abilities anyway), and maybe del negro. i just like singletary more.

Did Singletary fail to see Davis bust his *** to chase down a DB who had picked of O'Sullivan's pass and appeared to have an easy road for a TD? The DB still scored but Davis was busting his A

What was it that Davis did that was bad? I wasn't watching the game at that point. Also I think Singletary has a screw loose.

And what Mike said, is a really good synopsis of our team in Ames, IA. Perhaps not as much as having guys like Vernon Davis - but about needing to punch guys in the mouth, TEAM attitude, execute, learning how to win after many years of losing, etc.

You also have to realize that Singletary has been with the team all year. He probably saw things going on all year and really couldn't do anything about it because he wasn't the head man. This was just to send a message and maybe it was sent, who knows, but I love Singletary...

+1 minus the bears fan part.

I look for the 49er's to really take this to heart, and really come out with emotion these next couple weeks. It's sad that it has to come down to someone like Singletary to get some of these guys to play hard every play and play with the team mentality. It's actually fun watching the linemen pursue and just give everything they have out there for the team

I think you're right here. It sounds like Davis has been doing things all year so when Singletary had the chance to make an example of him, he did.

NFL needs more of it I say.

Liked Nolan? Why? Because he wore a suit? Couldn't be his 18-37 coaching record, decision to draft Alex Smith, or anything related to football for that matter.

Alex was looking pretty good late in the season, the last year Norv was there.

IMO, if Norv is still in SF, they're making a serious run at winning that division this year.

Somewhat agree. Problem was that Nolan's draft choices were awful. Smith #1 (because of a "gut" feeling the morning of the draft) Vernon Davis (workout monster), and then trading a future 1st rounder (7th pick) to the Pats to get a late 1st rounder in 2007. Why they gave a 1st time headcoach both the GM and coach position is why the 49ers will continue to stink for the foreseeable future.

I like it. Pretty straight-forward.

"We did not play anywhere near where I felt we could have played."
"Instead of going there, I'm just going to apologize."

This I'll agree with. And I put equal blame on SF and Nolan for those poor decisions and expecting him to make them.

He has actually been with the 49ers since 2005. So, I bet he has seen stuff that he hasn't liked for years with this team and now with him being head coach, he is going to be the enforcer!

I'm so happy to finally see a coach put these overpaid cry babies in their place, hopefully the owners/GMs back him and not the players on these matters.
