The importance of getting him back next week hasn't been discussed enough IMO. He is arguably our best defensive player and I think he completely changes the dynamic of how the defense can/will play. I felt pretty good about the D after Thursday night but I feel even better knowing that Sims is back next week.

Not arguably. He is Iowa State's best defensive player.

The Ravens defense isn't that great without Reed, same with the Steelers and Pitt. Sims will lift this defense big time next week. Hopefully now that our LB'ers have some playing time under their belts the whole defense will play better.. and they were pretty impressive to begin with.

I think we should go with Sims and Sandvig next week. Sandvig seemed to have much more intensity and athleticism than O'Connell. And yes Sims is a beast.

I was thinking the same thing during the game... I think Sandvig would make a pretty good FS.

I agree...I think he totally changes how we play on D. He is such a physical player and he seems to be an emotional leader when he is on the field.

Definitely going to help the defense... Sandvig filled in admirably, but Sims is so much more physical and athletic. Sims is great out there in coverage and is phenomenal at coming up in run support. Having him against Iowa is especially important because they love to run the ball up the middle and throw over the middle to the TE's and with Sims there he'll be ripping heads off.

If Sims were playing last Thursday, I don't think we would of had those 2 post routes in to the end zone with a wide open NIU player. They may have thrown it, but Sims would have been there to break it up.

i think our three linebackers are as good of a crew we have had at linebackers in a long time.

I'm hyped for Sims to be back, but the LB's need to tackle much better. Just re-watched the game on DVR and I can't believe how bad the tackling was at times.
