This guy has to be unanimous MVP if he continues anywhere near this pace right?

2.08 ERA starting pitcher hitting for power with .367 batting average as everyday DH?

He could slip quite a bit in both and still get consideration for my hypothetical vote.

No doubt, if it continues. It will be interesting to see how he does the second time around after teams develop their book on him. So far, he has been incredible.

It's unlikely he'll keep up this pace, but it's remarkable to see someone with this kind of skill in both pitching and batting. He's certainly brought some excitement to the game this year.

I think his ERA probably doubles by the end of the year and he will fall under .300 for his average. He has been incredible so far though.

Was going to go see him pitch today. **** you mother nature!

That being said, scouting ALWAYS catches up to these types of hot starts. He will be neutralized in a few months, IMO.

Wow, he's basically Roy Hobbs, before he got shot by the crazy woman in the hotel room.

Seems like with Japanese players the hitting is more likely to slip than the pitching...with the two big exceptions of Ichiro and Hideki Matsui although they came 4-7 years later in their career. Age is the only thing that slowed those two down at the plate.

Even if both facets slip to average for an MLB starter, he'd still be one of the most valuable players in baseball. If one or the other is elite while the other is average the guy is pure gold.
