Anyone else walk away from that show extremely disappointed? I understand that pounding on your vocal cords day in and day out on a tour is going to take it's toll, but as far as I'm concerned, if you can't sing 2/3 of the notes in your songs you are not holding up your end of the bargain.

I know the guy can sing, I've heard enough of their live recording to get a feel for that, but last night there was nothing. I suppose there is an outside chance that there were equipment issues, but it seemed more like an illness or over stressed vocal cords to me. The middle register was thin, but the high notes were just silence. No attempt to even cover it with music or backing vocals, just long stretches of him talking to the crowd in the middle of songs and skipping choruses. Not even a simple acknowledgement or apology. It's as if they didn't think anyone would notice.

Between a ticket, parking, admission, gas, etc. I had over $75 invested in putting my behind in that seat. Money I would have gladly paid for the show I was expecting. Instead I looked forward to the show for two months and walked out in the middle feeling like I had been punched in the stomach.

I went and saw Hairball insted last night..thats were it is!!!!!
See 'em every year here in I-Town and at the fair. They are amazing!

And to get back on topic my friends who are huge Shinedown fans said they were dissapointed as well. One of them has been to two other concerts and said that he sang wayyy better at both of them. I'm guessing his vocal cords were just to worn out.

I guess I've tried looking at it from both sides. I don't doubt that he manned up and did the best he could, but at the same time they put on a subpar show which can kill an up and coming act. I'm sure it was a management decision made above the band's heads.

I was there as well. I left before Shinedown finished their 5th song. The venue sucks, the volume was on 2 and they just didn't impress me. I've never left a show early before last night.

That was another thing I noticed; the volume was set to "Casual Listening". Rev Theory wasn't overpowering, but was twice as loud as Shinedown.

I've seen Rev Theory twice and they put on a hell of a show and seen Shinedown 1 time and really enjoyed it.

Something had to be wrong with their equipment or maybe the tour is just dragging on them. They'll be on tour for over another year so hopefully they can get that corrected.

Hmm, I thought they were really good. Also went to the 7 o'clock hairball show. First time I've seen them and it was a blast! Definitely going to them again.

You must have been drinking a lot because the kid next to me was hammered and he enjoyed it too.

Sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experince - I've seen them twice in the past year and was absolutly blown away both times. They had great sound and very good stage presence.

That being said, it's too bad that show wasn't at a better venue - I haven't had much luck seeing a great hard rock act at the state fair in the past - just not a good setup there.

Seeing Shinedown a few times they are not a great live band more of a studio band where you can magically tune your vocals :) its not the venue I saw the best live show there and I have been to many many concerts. The best live show I've seen at the fair was Kid Rock by the way

The volume level disappointed me and I couldn't even hear what he was singing when he was lifting the mic up on the higher notes. I enjoyed the show but it was not as good as their show in Waterloo.

However, don't complain about spending money on parking, when there are plenty of sides streets to park on for free. Also, admission was only $5 after 5, not exactly something that will break the bank.
