If anyone is feeling generous and wants to support a good cause I just wanted to get the word out about PAWS.
Here is the email he sent me:
Dear family and friends!
As you may know, I ran my first marathon under the midnight sun of arctic Norway last summer. That experience was a life-changing one that kicked-started a number of goals for me. This year, one of my goals is participating as an endurance training and fundraising athlete for TEAM PAWS. I invite you to support my efforts by joining in my belief that the life of no dog or cat should be destroyed just because he or she is homeless. All runners and walkers will work to raise money to support PAWS Chicago’s targeted spay/neuter, innovative adoption and community outreach programs.
For years, pet overpopulation has been managed by the killing of homeless pets. There is a better way!
PAWS Chicago was founded in 1997, a year when 42,561 homeless pets were killed in the city, and has since become one of the largest No Kill animal shelters in the nation, committed to transforming animal welfare by setting higher standards in the way that animals are treated. As a national model in animal sheltering, PAWS Chicago is working to build No Kill communities--starting with a No Kill Chicago--that respect and value the life of every cat and dog. Last year, PAWS Chicago found homes for more than 5,600 pets and performed more than 18,000 free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries in disadvantaged communities where the majority of stray and unwanted pets originate. Since the organization’s founding in 1997, the euthanasia rate in Chicago has been reduced by more than 60 percent.
Please help support my efforts of saving homeless pets. Together, we can build a No Kill Chicago!
