MLB: Seven year old injured by foul ball at first Cubs game

Most nets only run from home-plate-side to home-plate-side of the two dugouts. I don't know if I've ever seen any extend past the start of the dugout.

You have to be paying attention at baseball & hockey games. Especially along the dugouts and going out towards the outfield.

Indeed. A seven year old isn't capable of paying that much attention or defending himself or evading if need be. I have 6 and 8 year old girls and I wouldn't take seats that close.

I cant imagine the panic if that were one of my sons. Kids seem to be resilient and Im happy to see that he is improving every day.

I wonder some times if we're all going to have sign a liability waiver to go to a base ball game some day in the future.

On the back of a ticket there's usually something to that effect, warning about the risks of foul balls and what not.

probably 10+ yrs ago my parents used to take us to Arizona and we'd go to spring training. I remember one game Ken Griffey Jr hit a line drive foul ball into the stands on the first base side well past the dugout. Hit some poor kid in the face. Griffey went to see the kid at the hospital and more or less gave the kid the contents of his entire locker. Signed jersey, hat, all sorts of stuff.
