MLB: Selig May Lift Pete Rose's Lifetime Ban

Good call IMO. It has been said a previous commissioner (Bart something or other) was going to and died of the heart attack before he had the chance.

I have Pete Rose's autograph. Maybe it will go up in value if he gets reinstated.

I thought it was the effect (affect?) of banning Rose weighed so heavily on him - Giamatti - that it literally killed him.

Either way, if Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Roger Clemens are going to get in - and they are - then let Pete in.

Who knows who Bart Giamatti's son is? Even if you don't know, you've probably seen him and didn't make the connection.

My opinion on the thing is Rose was never going into the Hall for his accomplishments as a manager - he was a shoe-in for his accomplishments as a player, however.

My opinion - vote him into the hall, and tell his ENTIRE life story. He belongs there, but those visiting 50 years from now should also know he's one of many tarnished stars.

Dan Patrick was interviewing Selig a few weeks ago and pressed him on the Rose HOF issue. Bud tap danced all around it and said he really couldn't comment on the situation. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see some kind of action. Sounded like it was already in the works.

I'm sure he was pure as newly fallen snow before he became a manager - I stand corrected

you are making a pretty unfair leap that there was something dirty about him when he played since he made some errors as a manager.
