For all you Ryan Adams fans out there, have all the accusations against him made you feel any differently about him? For example- has anyone just quit listening to his music, etc?

I just hope he can get through all this and become a better person and start making music again and touring again for my own selfish reasons.

Anyone heard anything at all about him in the last 4 months or so?

I thought I saw something about him recently but not sure what came of it.

And yeah, it does make it weird to think of listening to him...although I never exactly saw him as some sort of upstanding citizen as he was always known for erratic behavior.

It's also weird that they still play Michael Jackson on the radio like all's well.

Our society lets a lot of things go including who we put in charge.

It was pretty well out there that he was a giant douche bag/POS prior to these allegations. The stuff with the 14 year old ratcheted that up a notch.

I haven't intentionally quit listening to his music, but I guess I haven't listened to him much since then either.

My main point is that I already liked his music despite being aware that he wasn't a good person. This shouldn't really change anything, but maybe it did. It could also be that I've listened to his music a **** ton over the years and just wasn't in the mood too. Hard to say. There are probably more male musicians that have a history of treating women poorly than not. I'm not ready to cancel their art, but it should give one pause before getting into hero worship.

I used to post his great 'Halloweenhead' dancing video on here to celebrate good news and now I won't. So **** him.

Like Al, I pretty well knew he was a dbag prior to all of this. Much like Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Rick James, and so very many others - I still appreciate their music as art while separating it from their personality. It's similar to Picasso and Dali, artistic geniuses who were pretty terrible to women - but still unquestionably mind-blowing as artists.

That being said, I don't listen to him probably as much. Not sure if it's subconsciously or what, I just don't seek him out.

Dude is crazy talented and I love his music. When it comes up on shuffle I don't skip it. That said, he is a well documented dickhead.

His PR team is following the typical plan for when someone does something stupid. They will keep him out of the news and hidden for a couple more years. By the time he re-surfaces he will have 14 albums of unreleased material the way he turns out stuff.

.

Agree. There's lots of people thru history that did great and good things, but also did bad things. Artists, politicians, regular folks. Turns out people are never perfect all the time, who knew?

He was supposed to drop 2 albums this year before the accusations came out.

Yes, and I was eagerly awaiting them. Whiskeytown is in my top 10 fav bands. His stuff with the Cardinals is unreal. Rock and Roll was a crazy good album. My old band used to cover so much stuff we could have been a considered a tribute band. His most recent stuff is hit and miss for me, but you can't deny the songwriting talent.

Lately I have been absolutely hooked on this band called "The Temperance Movement". Can't stop listening to them so his stuff hasn't been in the headphones much lately.

I love Whiskeytown. Honestly, Gold is my favorite RA solo album. I love the range of styles and think he generally nails it. Cold Roses is probably second - best of the Cardinals era for sure.

I'll check out the Temperance Movement. The artist I wasn't previously all in on that I've gone off the deep end with this year is Ray Wylie Hubbard. Truly one of the greatest songwriters alive.

Love Ray Wylie...he recently got to play Ryman.

I can't separate the artist from the art. Whenever I hear a Michael Jackson song I think about all the terrible things he (allegedly) did to all those kids. I loved the Cosby show as a kid, but I don't think I can watch it now.

I guess I figure if I listen to their music I'm condoning the behavior in a small way. Maybe that makes me a petty person.

I haven't put on a RA record since it all came out. I haven't purchased any RA lps since it all came out. However, if one of his (or Whiskeytown) songs comes on in one of my shuffles, I don't turn it off. And, since Neal Casal's passing, I've had some Cardinals songs in my head a couple of times.

We lived in Tennessee in the early to mid oughties when Ryan was there and he had an awful reputation. One of our best friends knew him pretty well and she liked him. I guess it's all in context.

We had a chance to meet him before a Cardinal's show in 2006 and after about 10 seconds I thought he was a douche too.

That being said, I think Cold Roses might be the best record I've ever heard. I also really liked Jacksonville.

We also beat up the Orion record and The **** cassettes. Orion is like a psuedo metal record and The **** is just kind of hilarious.
