Russell Ellington to hawkeyes

LB recruit Ellington is officially off the board

And it gets worse, how can he come to the ISU-Iowa game and see us kick that butt, and then he turns around and commits to them............

Brutal...............

He was a two star, not like their stealing a 4 star like notre dame did them last year with Brian smith, but still, its too bad, i thought he had a chance to be a very good player in our system....

Good luck on the bench in Iowa City, they only play juniors and seniors in their linebacker rotations......

I hope things turn around for our recruiting of HS players, maybe that will take time, but, when you get booted for a two star, wow....thats not good!!!!

Can anyone else say 15 JC's coming to Ames next year......

Sorry Redbird, must have been typing at the same time.....this one sucks....

But, can't win them all, who knows what would have changed his mind.......

Hmmmmmmm maybe the housing allowance for student athletes thing worked again....

Well, if climbing onto the sinking ship that is the EIU athletic program is his prerogative, have fun with that one. 4 years from now when ISU's dominated Iowa and Iowa's struggled while ISU's gotten progressively better, he'll only have himself to blame for the situation he's in...

TRUE - TRUE..........

Whatever you need to tell yourself.

SouthernHawk, i have to ask, i understand being on the CF website the week of rivalry, but, you seem to be here more then a lot of other CF members....

Can you tell me honestly, that somewhere, deep down in that closet of skeletons, ARE YOU A CYCLONE FAN?

Because your chances of swaying any of the CF members to view the Iowa City Boyz as something different is a long shot - if that were the case, we would be fans already and on the Hawkeye website hatin against our team right now:
Pre-season Hawk Talk: (in parenthesis - Midway through the season thoughts)
1. We're gonna win the Big Ten Title (We better finish ahead of Northwestern)
2. ISU is gonna get smoked when we come to Ames (17.5 pt underdogs - hmmmm)
3. We don't have to play Ohio St or Michigan name another game on our schedule that we cannot win (um based on the last couple weeks - all of them).
4. Ferentz is the best coach in the world (Thank god were not paying him what notre dame is Charlie Weiss - Oh yeah we are!!!!)
5. I'm glad tate is gone, he made too many mistakes (Does Tate have eligibility left)

It could go on and on - SouthernHawk, i think your funny for the most part - man, let the season go, the big ten title just isnt happening this year, or next year well you get the point......

If you want to convince people that the Hawkeye perspective is right, why not go to hawknation and explain to all the other hawk fans why the team really isnt this bad......

One serious Iowa question for you though.....If Douglas was not a stud, do you think they would leave him on scholarship even though his charges are now going to trial? Reason i ask is the long snapper that wasnt a preseason all big ten player got booted from the squad and school - why the double standard????

Oh well, at least we knew this year and next will be rebuilding years. Here's a question, Iowa is extrmely young - 60 freshman on the team, but, on the defense which isnt playing up to their ability, is old, you lose 6 starters including 4 of your front 7, and you lose both of you rb's how will Iowa expect to lose half of their defense and get better? And the offense, if douglas is not let back, which i would be surprised if he were allowed back next year, without any proven running back which they have two very good backs will they expect to be better....Iowa's supposed to re-load not rebuild, thats what all the other New Years Day bowl teams do....oh thats right, they go to those bowls because of their following, not necessarily deserving......

Sorry Redbird for diverting the thread.....back to Ellington and his new team the Hawks.............yikes - good luck.....

KMAC, that was beautiful!!!! I'm gonna print that one off.:notworthy:

Good to see SouthernHawk emerge to talk some smack, I guess recruiting is the only place he can comment right now.

I just hope they don't get Sanni too....and i think that is a distinct possibility....

I was high on Ellington too....he just looks like a good, hard working kid...

But, of the two, there's no doubt that Sanni is regarded as the better prospect, and we could steal him, how awesome would that be if he played the safety spot and got a chance to plant his cousin crossin the middle in Iowa City!!!!!

I don't think its gonna happen, i think the Hawks land both.....but time will tell...
