Royce White headed to D-league??

Hmm. I know getting him PT makes sense, but their strategy for him is confusing. Maybe they will reveal a little more about their reasoning when they likely address this tomorrow.

I can see this as a positive. Get him into bball shape and get his confidence up. Also, they do not fly in the D-League.

I think Royce has too much on his mind. Needs to get back to focusing on basketball and let the rest take care of itself.

Does Royce even want to focus on basketball? Honestly, he hasn't shown enough for me to emotionally invest anything in his success after ISU.

I loved the guy, but dude, show up in shape.

seems really bad right now but this might be what royce needs im sure he needs some live action... but in real honesty he should have never left for the NBA in my opinion he was not mature enough

His decision was declared correct exactly the second he was drafted as high as he was. What was important was that he gets his guaranteed contract when he can. His stock was never getting higher than it was. He was already old for a lottery pick. He made the right decision.

His missing training camp and the way he has carried himself when it comes to transportation have not helped him though, you are right about that. It is unfortunate because he can't help his anxiety and everything and he is doing really well with the awareness for it, but that is not helping his NBA career any.

Unless Royce can get his stuff together, he's not going to have an audience to make aware of anxiety issues. The best way for him to make people more aware of issues like the ones he has is by making it big in the NBA. Can't do that from the D-league.

This is why some of us were saying that he needed to buck up and get his *** to training camp (and got ridiculed for it, by the way). Training camp is invaluable for rookies to help them get up to speed at the next level as these guys can no longer just walk out and be the best player on the court anymore.

Hope he gets a lot of good work in quickly in the D league and gets back up to the bigs ready to play.

Yeah, his anxiety issues are a real problem but they didn't prevent him from working out on his own while stuff was figured out. No reason for him not to have shown up in shape.

missing training camp was killer...I'm still not sure how/why he or they let that happen.

I'm guessing he did it to bring awareness to his anxiety - I honestly think that's always been more of an issue to him than basketball, he basically says it in interviews. The only thing I think he isn't realizing is that he can do more good/bring more attention by bringing it to the forefront when he has a bigger audience. Get out on the floor first, grow your fanbase, then make it a point. Right now the only ones really behind him are ISU fans, I think a lot of Rockets fans see him as difficult.
