At the end with the time confusion. Didn't throw a big fit and start screaming, just calmly shook Fred's hand and walked away. The interview afterwards, he was quick to point out how it was their fault and not the refs.

Still not a huge fan of his, with his success stealing in-state talent away, but was impressed with how he handled the situation at the end of the game nonetheless.

I think he was too mad at his team to get too mad at the refs. He was furious after they let Naz Long loose with 50 seconds left. Plus, it was almost his bedtime.

Was just thinking Hoiberg must have been hyperventilating...."Ok stop talking stop talking...just say its over..say its over!"

He knew it was a lost cause because it was properly called.

He knew they messed up. I really have no idea why anyone is even talking about it, NC in bounded the ball and the clock ran out before they got a timeout. Just like every other game in the history of basketball.

Roy was calling the timeout....just didnt get seen. Ehh...i dunno. I can see the practical side to officiating that would tell me with a TO left...take a peak to see if coach is calling a timeout.....but...happened so quick not realistic to expect the refs to see it.

And ya know what....screw him.

I've never liked Roy only because of his success. If I look at it from a 3rd party standpoint, I don't blame him for taking the best talent he can find or winning. He handled things with class yesterday.

Yeah I honestly don't see the big controversy here. If the refs put more time on the clock it would have been less than 1/2 a second. The chances of getting points out of that were slim to none. He knew this and he knew that his players blew it. He really had no other options other than admit defeat.

This...and their poor transition defense (Kane and Ejim's layups)

Mike & Mike asked Hoiberg how he would have reacted if it had been him and he said at that point there is not much else you can do.

I don't understand why player in-bounding ball wasn't looking to Ol Roy to see if he wanted a timeout, that was when to call one.

Roy said that standing rule in the scenario for the team is to call a TO before the inbounds so the whole UNC team screwed up.

I got a kick out of a USA Today article saying UNC was jobbed because the clock stopped to slowly after the made basket and that all flowed through. I watched it several times and did not see a slow stoppage after the made basket.

I noticed the clock not running immediately during the play and was explaining it to my 8 year old daughter and about going nuts while it appeared everyone was focused on when the TO was called.

Really thought someone's foot was on the way to the knuts if you know what I mean.

My guess is the inbounder had a brain fart. I am sure they have been taught to look at the coach after the Kane score and for some reason he panicked.

This is what blows my mind about any discussions still going on about this. Mike and Mike even were harping on it a bit during the Hoiberg interview this morning. And reading on here last night about "How we finally got a call" When in actuality, no one "got the call" It was just the right call. I have to admit though, I was waiting the whole time for the other shoe to drop. Just watching them discuss it, seeing the replay over and over, I knew the game was over, everyone in the country knew the game was over, I was still waiting for them to give UNC a second. Especially since my wife had the score tracker up and I had the game on (we were at a church dinner) and on the score tracker they still had 1 second left.

I'd venture a guess a good chunk of teams wouldn't call time out on the inbounds. It would've been discussed in the previous timeout that "If Iowa State gets a bucket here, XXXXX inbounds to YYYYY and you get as far as you can before you're forced to shoot." It's easier to get an uncontested long shot that way than it is to get off a good shot against a set defense.

Millions of eyes on him and he knew it.

Lots of coaches put in the same position probably still wouldn't have been able to control themselves - imagine Mad Fran, Frank Martin, Bob Huggins, or Coach K with his passive-aggressive ******** in that spot.

Nice job outta Ol' Roy to lose with a little grace.
