So now with Prohm here how does the rotation shape up next year? His Murray State teams have went 8 or 9 deep and played primarily with a 3 guard lineup a so I would imagine a similar type or rotation.

PG - Morris
SG - Long
SG - Thomas
SF - Niang
PF - McKay

Bench
1st - Nader
2nd - Cooke
3rd - Noskowiak/Burton when available

Also, any predictions of a player who will thrive in the system outside of the big 3?

Nader will start.

I could see Nader coming off the bench because he's really our only back up "big" (using that term loosely) if Tsalboris doesn't come back.

Burton can play some at the 4 as well I guess but you would hate to get two of Georges, McKay and Nader in foul trouble early.

I think you can control that a little better with one on the bench to start.

Definitely need a big guy. Without an additional big to give at least 10 to 15 minutes a game, we are going to be very, very small if McKay gets in foul trouble or injured.

I'm a cautiously optimistic person, and it scares me to hear all the prognosticators and people on this board claiming we're going to be so good, top 5 team, etc. First, we have a new coach, and second, we're one injury away from being in trouble. We are not a deep team at this point. Need another big. The two guys we lost from last year (Hogue and BDJ) were good rebounders and even then our team was barely above average at rebounding. Hope Prohm can pull a rabbit out of a hat and find a big, but don't hold your breath.

An immediate PF would be nice. I suppose there aren't many Tyler Harris types floating around at this point. I know zilch about the juco pool.

Assuming nobody new that's ready to contribute...

Monte is going to play 35 minutes/night. Cooke and NN will supplement.

I can imagine we'll play with a lot of "2 2 guard" sets. I figured Fred would have done that anyways, gone small, given the pace and spacing it implies and our relative lack of depth on the front line. So lots of time for Naz, Cooke, and Thomas here. Bombs away. Might see some NN here (or Burton) if you want a little different style than the previous three as shooters.

Nader might start, but he's going to be the four often. Burton likewise.

Nader/McKay are going to play every second that they can. Nader will supplement with time at the four in a small-ball lineup and we might see a little GT against opposing second units for defensive purposes. Doubt he does much but defend, foul, and take a few open threes, though.

We're not incredibly deep, but we've got three all-conference level players...

Niang
Morris
McKay

Proven high-level major conference players...

Long
Nader
Cooke

Guys with a ton of talent who haven't put it together/haven't had a chance...

Burton
Thomas

+ NN
+ The Greek

That's eight "sures" and two with plenty of potential. Plenty for some great times next year.

Just looking scant with just NN, Cooke, Thomas, Burton, and the Greek thereafter coming back. :/

My guess is at this point Nader comes off bench and we start with a 3 guard line up with a heavy emphasis on more rebounding from the guards. Could be wrong but his system has the pg crashing the boards at times as it means if the pg can rebound we are put running that much faster....although our team is a little unique in we have several who can bring it up.

Nader is going to play a lot anyway so it doesn't matter. I think he could have a huge year this year, he's a tough match up as he can handle the rock and when he drives he's tough....Nader and others really just need to focus on defense and rebounding this off season.

Morris, Long, Nader, Niang, Mckay to start and finish a game, but doesn't mean Nader will play significant minutes at the wing position. I suspect he comes out in early minutes to rest before going in for Niang or Mckay. We'll play a guard for significant minutes at wing(SF). Things will get better at post when Burton is available or if we pick up a backup big.

I know a lot of people are concerned about not adding another post but we have to remember CFH had Edozie on the bench for most of the game last year with a similar roster. Assuming Tsalmpouris returns and has improved this summer, and his play on his Greek team is promising, he can fill the role of 4th big in the game if not even more. Nadar and Burton can play the stretch 3-4 role (Hogue's last year) for a good number of minutes too.
Getting another post this summer who is ready to play this year would be nice but, far from critical and not the difference in this years team being top 10 or not.

Not critical, but the need does grow if GT chooses not to return. As far as I know that is not yet guaranteed.

More aggressive D, if CSP really means it and isn't just paying lip service, will mean more foul trouble. It's one of the reasons Fred had the guys play the way they did--he wanted the guys with the best offensive skills in the game as much as possible. That's why Edozie didn't get much time, BTW.

I'm beginning to think we're going to miss Hogue a LOT more than we initially might have thought. He made all the hustle plays for us that don't always show up on the stat sheet. He gave our team energy.

I figured Darien Williams would step in and cushion the blow of losing Hogue, but then he bolted to St. Johns with Matt A.

Hopefully Prohm can find a diamond in the rough big to bring in for this season. Even an Edozie type guy that can go in there and grab some rebounds, be physical, use up some fouls, etc would be very useful IMO.

Solid evaluation here. I've always thought some of the bigs got in trouble when they get tired, get beat not keeping up, and try to fix it by reaching in. Rarely get in trouble with their hands up. That said, pressure D is going to require fresh bodies which we may lack or at minimum require some compromises. This is where a backup big would come in handy.

Nader will start over Thomas.

Possibly, but I don't think it's a given. Nader has more upside IMO with his ability to defend better, rebound better, etc, but I thought Thomas was looking pretty good by the end of the year last year.

Prohm may want to use Thomas as a 6th man type player though to bring in off the bench when they need some shooting.

The loss of Williams was huge, as was not being able to recruit another big. Horrible recruiting plan, even after TJ was brought in.

The leaders of the program took a really constipated **** on the program considering what this upcoming year could have been. And no, I am not "butthurt" over Fred leaving. Knowing what we do now about his longstanding lust for coaching in the NBA, he made the jump 14 months too late IMO.

The team is going to flip between being small or big depending on if Nader is on the court. He almost looked like Royce at times, kid is very physical for somebody who can play on the wing.

I could see the season hinging on his consistency, he was either quite good or very quiet last year.

Cooke and Burton will also be very interesting. I want to see NN, but I imagine MM just getting a ton of minutes.
