I've heard from the president of the club baseball team himself that Ross Marsden will be accompanying the team on their trip to South Dakota this weekend to play USD. Plans are to put him at first base and possibly to pitch some. A smaller scale Michael Jordan situation???

It's believable. Here is what someone named Jean Marsden (I believe it is his aunt) said on his Facebook:

Texas A&M used to have a guy that played both, I beleive he was 6'11"
ISU's club baseball was a joke when I went to school. There were so many d-bags who thought they were awesome.
Does that invalidate his "need to focus on acedemics" line? Is there another reason Ross quit the basketball team?
Twins have a guy in there system from Austrailia who's up there. Not sure if he's at 7'0" but I remember reading that he's taller than the big unit.

I knew about Rauch, as I am a Sox fan. I just assumed that no one else really knew who he is. Sexson is tall, but only 6'8", and Ryan Wagner isn't close. He's only 6'4".
I was wondering the same thing.... Like Jeremy said earlier, there usually is more the story.
My bad, I meant Ryan Anderson, former first round pick of the Mariners... I know Paul Shirley always used to go to our home games... He said he always wished he could have played...
That goes double for the actual varsity team when I went to school, just prior to being eliminated.
A bunch of the players lived at my appartment complex. They were ARSES!!
The best who ever succeeded in both sports has to be Gene Conley. He was a solid (3 time all star) pitcher for the Braves (Boston & Millw), Phillies, & Red Sox. He was a decent 6-8 reserve forward for the some of the championship Celtics teams in the 50's. There was little if any overlap of seasons in those days as basketball was still considered a winter sport rather than running into June.
SO who was that? What apartment complex? I'm sure if anybody came off that way it wasn't unwarranted...

Does it really matter what his excuse is? He doesn't want to play. Maybe basketball was a job but baseball is leisure.. By the way I think club baseball time consumption is slightly less rigorous than big12 basketball.

I'll second that idea. I'd imagine the time commitment is significantly less for club baseball. I would also assume that baseball is mostly a summertime activity where basketball dominates both regular semesters.
Ross was quite a good baseball player when he was younger, but gave it up due to conflicts with the summer AAU basketball. FYI, his brother is on the club baseball team at Iowa.
Everybody forgets about Dave Winfield. He was drafted in 3 different sports out of the University of Minnesota. Drafted as a Tight End, outfielder in baseball and power forward in basketball.
Also, Joe Mauer for the Twins was offered a scholarship by Florida State to be quarterback and got an offer to play shooting guard by Wisconsin-Milwaukee
