Tested positive for coke last year. Let's hope he kept it away from Josh Hamilton.

I don't see why this was that big of a story.

It was last year, it sounds like he only did it once in a moment of weakness, didn't beat up his wife or girlfriend (or beat up someone else's wife or girlfriend).

Why dig into the past when it's apparent the guy was remorseful and seems determined not to do it again (i.e., tested twice a week during the season and once a week in the off-seaosn).

It seems like a journalistic low-blow to me.

It's not a journalistic low blow with former cokehead Josh Hamilton in the same clubhouse.

Really? You're buying into this? :err: who does cocaine once, especially when they're 50?

The story I saw said he tested positive twice last year. Bet he was doing coke to stay energetic over the course of a 162 game season long grind. Same deal with all of the ball players who have been taking ampthetamines (speeders) for most of the history of baseball.

What really raised my eyebrows... Major League Baseball drug tests the managers? I was surprised by that.

I wonder if a manager tested positive for Steroids, if he would face the same punishment as a player.

As a Rangers fan, this news is a disappointment and a bit of an embarassment. That said, I think it's become a bigger story than it had to be. I suppose the fact that Josh Hamilton is in the club exacerbates the situation, but I'm ready for people to just forgive him and move on. (I have more thoughts on my Rangers blog.) Either way, I think this will actually make the club stronger, and I'm ready for them to give the media something else to talk about.

Are you kidding me? Managers are held to the same standard as players. He is lucky he kept his job.

I'm guessing he can put down a few Coronas.
There's no way this guy has only done cocaine once.

I think there have been some tell tale signs...
1 - multiple times during BP, the first base line at Arlington park has mysteriously disappeared
2 - he's been known to rip open rosin bags and taste the contents
3 - club house items turn up at pawn shops in texas at an alarming rate
4 - he makes robert parrish look like a young boy
