Are there any to die for places to eat in Rockford? I am staying there tomorrow night after going into Chicago for a musical. I've never really been to Rockford so any info will help.

Try Leno's on State Street. Good Italian food. Try their special salad.

Ah Rockford... The armpit of Illinois?? C'mon. It's not great, but it's certainly not the armpit of Illinois. Forget about Peoria? What a dirty city. Besides, Rockford is just a bit smaller than Des Moines, so there are certainly things to do and places to eat.

As others have said, Lino's is a great place to go... I'm friends with the family that owns it. The special salad, pizza, and italian beef are the stuff to get there.

JMK Nippon's is a great hibachi grill place.. a bit higher scale than most. Shogun is a less expensive alternative that's also very good.

Franchesco's Ristorante is another locally owned place that has good food.. and a VERY nice looking restaurant. $13-14 a plate there. It's at the corner of Perryville Road and Spring Creek Road.
And while we're on Italian Food... wouldn't be right of me if I didn't mention Sal's Ristorante in downtown Cherry Valley, my hometown. (southeast side of Rockford)

I haven't been there, but if you like German food, there's a little place called Der Rathskeller (Der Rathskeller). I've heard good things from friends who went there a lot.

For a expensive seafood place, there's Cliffbreakers. Haven't ever been there, but I've heard good things. Again... expensive.

I'll leave it to those for now, but if you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a PM or something.

the texas roadhouse is always a good place for a meal, rockford itself is a decent town their are far worse places in illinois and iowa

When I travel I try to stay away from chains that are around here just because I can drive 30 mins and get to one right now. I did some research and found thunder bay grill I've never heard of it but apparently there is one in Davenport too. I think were gonna try this place.

Please, do NOT go to Thunder Bay Grill. Overpriced and not very good. Plus, it is a chain.

My opinion of Rockford is based on the 2 times I drove through, and the few times I went up there to repo cars. Thought it was one of the dirtiest cities I've ever been to, & I've been to factory town Detroit. Although one of my favorite bands is from Rockford, The Goodyear Pimps. Great shows.
