What makes Jim Harbaugh anymore qualified to coach Iowa State than Rob Ash. Rob Ash has coached a lot longer 1AA non schalarship football. If being a former pro athlete is the main criteria than maybe we should have hired Fred Hoiberg to coach basketball instead of GMAC.

I will be happy with whomever Pollard gets, whether its Harbaugh or not. He gets paid to do the research and find the best coaching candidate. I'm sure he knows a lot more about coaching candidates than any of us.
Just my 2 cents. If I were a potential 3, 4 or 5 * recruit, and I got a call, would I want to hear this is Rob Ash or this is Jim Harbaugh?
Even if these kids are too young to remember Harbaugh as a player, I would think that Google would churn up some more interesting results for Harbaugh than Ash. Basically, he can get in some recruits' doors that Ash can't.

I think Hoiberg will be a good coach some day, but he doesn't have any coaching experience or does he? Didn't he play until he couldn't play any more? He is now in the Timberwolves administation, right?
Harbaugh would probably have more coaching experience than he does, but he played in the NFL for 15 years. I hope he learned a thing or two about coaching along the way.
