Myself and two buddies have started plans for a trip to Boulder to watch the Clones against the Buffs.
We are still in the preliminary stages but wanted to know if any of you have been to Boulder for a football game?
If so, do you have any helpful hints? We are driving down in one day and plan on staying Friday and Saturday night.
How is the tailgating on game day?
Again any "helpful" hints would be appreciated.
We are looking forward to making the road trip as this will probably be the last time the Clones and Buffs play for quite some time!
Thanks and GO CYCLONES!

I had a friend tell me they went once, showed up three hours or so before game time and there was nobody there tailgating. Parking guy told them nobody really tailgates. Could be true or a story, I don't know from experience.

1) Avoid the parking ramp next to the Events Center.
2) Buy your beer at a liquor store.
3) Keep interaction with Buff fans at a minimum.
4) Have your fun in Denver the day before, and after the game.
5) Don't go to Casa Bonita. It sucks.

tailgating isn't much there, but there is an ISU tailgate going on at one of the hotels. Drink at a bar before the game, then head over.
There is going to be a good size ISU contingent in Boulder.

Geonimous is absolutely correct. Being a stater we are accustomed to going out to the lots 5-6 hours before a game, well not in Colorado, or this will happen, see pic.

Go thru Wyoming on your way out, drop down thru Ft. Collins and hit up the micro breweries.

Pearl St. is pretty cool, like IA City's ped mall, but less douchey.

How is Colorado ever going to improve if fans don't tailgate. Wait, that's right - the fans actually go "in" the stadium instead :)

False

Check out this photo from the game:

Interestingly, the lower section of the CU horseshoe is all students and they are notoriously bad about getting to the game on time.

Five of us are roadtrippin' in an RV. Anyone tailgating in the RV lot? I've been told that it's quite a ways away from the main tailgating lots.[/QUOT

Anyone know good hotels to stay in close?

I liked the Outlook. It's right across the street from the CU Events Center and a short walk to Folsom.

I also walked away feeling extra smug that I had lowered my carbon footprint by staying there.

Re: Boulder CU info .....email me

Thanks for all the help from drlove!
Pieces are starting to fall into place. Would really like to know game time, that would help with the planning.
Wonder what time that will come out?
With no TV is probably will be 1:00.
The later ther better!

Veterans Day holiday is the Thursday before, so some people can have an extended visit. Snow has hit the rockies also.

We stayed at the Millenium Harvest Hotel when we went last time. I believe it didn't get the greatest of reviews on tripadvisor, but I didn't have any problems with it. It is also where the ISU tailgate is held. It was outside with beverages for sale and huge bigscreen that you could watch game day on (or games, but I think it was a pretty early game). If you didn't stay at this hotel, it was $20 to park at the hotel. We could walk from the hotel to the game. I'd stay there again.

Or at all, the game we went to '08, they decided to stay home.

If CU loses at KU I could deffinitely see the CU fans "boycotting" for the ISU game. Even more likely that they stay home for KSU the next week after we beat them for their 7th loss.

I am surpised Hawkins hasn't been shown the door already honestly. At least that would give them an excuse to lose the last few games and would give CU fans hope for the future.
