Hey Cub fans...I always kind of liked Riggleman while he was managing the Cubs...didn't they hire him away from another managing job? Padres maybe? Anyway, he is in a no-win situation with the Nats as they are BAD! Refresh my memory as to what people thought of Riggs when he was let go by the Cubs...I know winning is everything...but was he liked by the fans?

Manny Acta replaced by Jim Riggleman as Washington Nationals manager - ESPN

He came from the Padres 1995,I think.
He did OK and was considered mediocre,by most fans.
1998... the Cubs had a decent team that should have won the division.
They won the wild card in a playoff against the Giants.(GREAT night BTW)

From what I remember,he managed too conservatively for most fans.
1999 was when Don Baylor showed up.

If Jim Riggleman had stayed around longer, maybe Kerry Wood and Mark Prior would still be starting pitchers.

Eh...nevermind...Wood was killed through high school and Prior was doping.

Riggleman manages like he is an AL manager.
Sits back and waits for the 3 run HR.
