MLB: Renaming of Kauffman Stadium

Are there any bank Corporate offices in Missouri, KC, area... Dosent HR Block have there Headquarters in downtown KC?

Too bad they couldn't name it "George Brett Park"...I know...the point in naming stadiums is not to honor former players/individuals anymore...it is to make money! Which is fine...as long as that money gets put back into the team/organization!

Went to Kauffman this summer for a Red Sox game...loved the park
This. I watched my first MLB game in Kauffman and it is actually a very nice stadium. Too bad the team hasn't really produced in a long time.

this would be a travesty. Kauffman was such an incredible person and family, gave everything to the Royals, not to mention his legacy at the Kauffman foundation pumps millions into non-profits in Kansas City every year. Not happy about this at all.

Anyone that is a Royals fan will always refer to it as the K. If Glass
takes the corporate money he better be active in the free agent
market this winter getting a couple of pitchers.

I completely understand your sentiment but I'd like to see it renamed basically for the same reasons.

I grew up a Royals fan in the '80's and what that organization has become after Ewing Kauffman's death is a travesty. Mr. Kauffman built an organization that was synonymous with AL West pennant races and championships in the 1970's. Their farm system was outstanding and the talent was top shelf from GM down and in the 1980's ('80 and '85) Kauffman's team broke through to the World Series (winning in '85).

The current MLB farm team in Kansas City doesn't deserve to have Ewing Kauffman's name associated with it. By all means they should sell out and change it.

hey Royals fans, do you want to keep guys like Hosmer, Moustakas, et al, have a good chance at winning the division for the next few years and play at Sprint Park or do you want to lose 100 games a year at Kauffman Stadium?

I grew up at the K. Practically every home game weekend in the summer when I was in elementary school, our family would go down for the Friday through Sunday games. It will always be "The K" to me. But, if we can get a huge sponsorship that will effectively allow us to compete and keep/pay our great young players, I'll be okay with it. They could rename the field after Ewing or possibly the plaza out behind CrownVision.

But I can guarantee that if Glass just pockets the money, you'll see an outrage from the fans and former greats.

I would like for my owner, David glASS to (the former CEO of Wal-Mart) to pump more money into the team. We could do that without changing the name. Of course you wouldn't understand this seeing that your not a Royals fan. It's Kauffman Stadium and will always be Kauffman Stadium.

This is the reality of the situation. KC is already behind by playing in a small market so any new revenue they can generate is badly needed. Just because the name changes doesn't tarnish the Kauffman name or change anything that happened there in the past. I bet EK would have done himself if he were still around.

They can sell the name rights a thousand times but it will always be Kauffman stadium to the fans and that's good enough for me.

It sucks, but as long as this money goes towards the team rather than Glass's pockets I'm fine with it. They'd better sign Gordon to an extension with this money. Hosmer and Moustakas will be cheap for a couple more years.
