They are playing old games called by Harry on Comcast, directv channel 640. Really takes me back to hear him call a game again. Cant beat Harry and Stoney calling a day game at Wrigley.

SHowing a game against the Phillies against Schilling. Harry spent the whole top of the 2nd reading the names of every person that contibutes to the broadcast, from the camera men to anyone else that noone has ever heard of, , but then mentions how people normally dont do that, and rambles on about this and that like we all miss.

They are also playing some of his infamous bloopers/bad calls before and after the commercials.

I am watching this as well. GREAT stuff. 1997 was one of the seasons I went to a ton of games as I was living in Chicago at the time.

Hearing Harry really takes me back though to when I was a young kid sitting at home in summer time.

Great to hear Harry say "MICKY MORANDINI". Couldve done without Tom Arnold and him mentioning the Hawks "great" football season.

Harry is the main reason i am a Cubs fan today. Him and The Hawk, Gracie and Ryno. Never cared for Sosa. Or as Harry would say "Schammy Schoschia".

The Tom Show? How long did that last? 1 episode?

Yeah, then the guy has to go and mention the Squawks....

It occurs to me as I watch this that Harry was only a few months away from his death during this broadcast and I still find him as interesting to listen to as I always did. A true American Legend in my opinion. No one did it better than Harry and Steve Stone and most likely no one ever will.

Oh boy. Ryno leaves the field for the last time.....standing ovation.

I seriously thought I was going to get misty for a minute there.

Harry was brutal. Thank goodness for Steve Stone keeping things on track. Harry was good for a laugh once in a while, but even then it wasn't intentional. Perhaps he was good before my time but it was like a sideshow the last decade...

But people didnt listen to Harry for his baseball knowledge, they listened to be entertained. Stoney did a great job of keeping Harry on track.

Good thing Harry isnt around today to butcher all of the Latino players names of today. Back then there were about 20% of what there are today in MLB.

I don't get Comcast but my two Chihuahuas Harry and Caray would love to see it!

Damn, wish I had seen this thread last night.

Ever see the games when he's probably good and snookered up and starts pronouncing names backwards? "Hey Stevie, what's Lenny Dykstra spelled backwards sound like?"

They showed a clip like that last night. He was doing Alou.

HILARIOUS

I only watched Cubs games when they were playing the Pirates.

Here's my favorite Harry-Steve excahnge. It's not word for word but it's pretty close.

The camera, like it often did, focuses in on someone or something between innings after a commercial break. This time they focused in on a young couple with a child no more than 3 or 4 years old.

Steve: "Isn't that great. A young family enjoying themselves at a ballgame."

Harry: "Steve, do you think that we've ever caught a man with the wrong woman on TV?"

Steve has no response.

Harry: "Have you ever been named in a paternity lawsuit?"

I just started laughing when I heard that.

Another famous quote: "high pop fly... that wouldn't be a home run in a phone booth.."

Bunch of good ones here: Harry Caray Quotes
Harry Caray quotes

This one is too funny, would probably get in trouble for saying it today: "Aw, how could he (Jorge Orta) lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."

"They (Expos fans) discovered 'boo' is pronounced the same in French as it is in English."

Harry was the man. Funny stuff.

:biglaugh:

I can't remember if it was Harry or not but didn't they catch a couple kissing and either Harry or whoever it was said something like "He's kissing her on the strikes and she's kissing him on the balls."

That was Harry. It was very funny.

Another one I remember, probably towards the end, was Harry going crazy over a home run. Problem is that it was a lazy pop fly into center field and easily caught by the outfielder.

Too bad he switched away from the Cardinals, the cubs didn't deserve him. JK (well, not really)
