Reeves or LJ

Yep. Teams pick on the guy with the least experience. So LJ's freshmen year fans noticed him more because balls were being thrown his way. Now Reeves is getting more balls thrown his way
LMAO- just watched the replay. Did you know LJ got beat by Leong for the first passing TD? The one after the deflected punt snap. LJ go beat to the inside. Can't believe I missed that. Reeves got beat once, LJ got beat once, and then LJ and the safety had the miscommunication.

I am not sure where you got the impression Reeves got beat twice for TDs and LJ didn't get beat. As a matter of fact, Reeves was thrown at 5 times in the red zone. 4 times he had great coverage and the one time he got beat badly. They were throwing Reeves way but he did not give up completions. LJ did give up 4 first downs on third and long. Of course, every thing is in front of him and he doesn't get much safety help.

In the end, I don't care if teams are throwing at Reeves, if he isn't giving up completions. it kinda proves my point. he gets picked on more but gives up fewer completions.

I urge you to watch the replay and I think you will notice LJ gave up more completions.

Can't we just all agree that we have a talented secondary and just leave it at that?

LJ is playing very solid and he doesn't get thrown to that often. Reeves had some big plays, but still has gotten beat a lot. PR has confirmed this on one of his radio interviews. LJ is by far our best corner and the other teams know this. Bruns was asked on an interview who has impressed him most this year and LJ was in his top three. I think people get caught up in big plays and don't look at the big picture. Ben's opinion holds a bit more water than the average fan posting here.

Some (all) of you need to stop treating everything the coaches say as gospel. 75% of the stuff Rhoads says to the media is meaningless coach speak. Rhoads is a pro at it.

  1. I like our secondary on both sides. I think Reeves showing better coverage skills right now but he can afford to take more risks as he has safety help most of the time. LJ is getting beat underneath but he has to be careful because he is not getting safety help. The good news is LJ is making the tackle immediately. I like Benton's role as well. I think he is much better suited for the Hybrid/nickel role than a true CB.
  2. Why am I a bad person for pointing out that people mistakenly stated Reeves go tbeat wice, when in fact he didn't? It is funny that people watch the game live and see what they want to see. I do this as much as anyone. but when you go back and watch the replays, you see a completely different game. There were a couple posters that said LJ is better because Reeves go tbeat twice for TD agaisnt TT. That simply isn true and I am pointing that out.

Agree, but what does that have to do with this? Both Reeves and LJ have been beat deep equally. Reeves against UNI and TT. LJ against iowa and TT. i think you are right though. People focus on Reeves blown plays against TT and UNI and forget LJs against iowa and TT.

I don't even look at the kick off return or the INT return. Both were gifts. I look at teams picking on Reeves because of his size and him continuing to make plays and great breaks on the ball. Both are solid, solid corners

Bump. Reeves played terribly today. He got picked on all game and got beat deep too many times. Not to mention he was within a yard of tackling the punt returner and missed him. On the other hand, LJ was playing too soft coverage so he got beat short a few times.

I think the answer to the OP question in this thread is simply "no."
They both had plenty of mistakes tonight.

Reeves probably had the worst game of any Cyclone in recent history. I stopped seeing him after the third quarter, he seemed to have been replaced by Jacques Washington.
