D1 College Wrestling - Iowa State

per that publication, 8th. Iowa is 6th, and Rutgers 2nd, so take the whole thing with a grain of salt

That website ranks last year's class. The 2009 class is not complete yet.

Iowa will probably have a higher ranked class than Iowa State again though. They have #1 160 St. John, #3 171 Lofthouse, #4 125 Ramos, and #6 145 Carew. (Overall National Individual Rankings)

Anybody have inside info on who else we're going after?

That's likely a full class in terms of those receiving scholarship money. There will be walk-ons for sure. Wrestling recruiting is tough because of the limited number of scholarships. Factor in the fact that a majority of ISU's scholarships are tied up in this year's junior class and you have the makings of a small but talented incoming group.

are any of our recruits wrestling in the dapper dan this year isu2007?

#1 135 David Taylor is rumored to be wrestling in Dapper Dan.

#2 135 Eric Grajales and Taylor are the top 2 recruits in the nation at all weights. Taylor says that he will go to Senior Nationals if Grajales goes as well.

Taylor has been quoted saying he looks forward to wrestling Grajales. Taylor is not afraid of going after the top competition.

Do you think we would have had enough money to go after one more top recruit had we not had to go so hard at Trent at the end? I'm glad he's a cyclone of course, but I just wonder if our original offer to Trent had left enough over.

I'm unfamiliar with recruiting in wrestling. What are the rules with recruiting? How many scholarships? How much money can be used for recruits? Thanks in advance for any info.

that sucks that ramos is going to iowa. hes pretty good.

and i wasnt aware that brandon, florida had good wrestlers. i was under the impression their winning streak was due to dodging all tough competition.

i actually didnt know their streak ended. wow. dodging tough tourneys like the ironman/ beast of the east or not, that was an impressive streak.

You guys are getting a good one in Macchiaroli. Not sure if he will be a 197lb or 285 he weighs around 210 naturally. Big up side, very athlethic. He hasen't gotten much attention in the national rankings but he has some quality wins over 3 or 4 of the guys ranked in front of him.
