We own Iowa...

In Football, 3 of the last 4 years ISU won (just think if we had a football program what could happen).
In Basketball 5 of the last 6 years ISU won (and they laughed at Hoiberg hire).

... and next year we get them both in Ames. :)

No wonder Iowa fans want to drop ISU from their schedule.

I'd be ok with dropping them, I'd rather play big name schools or at least a school from a decent conference.

to be fair in football...the home team hasn't won it the last 3 years. Iowa could easily pound us...of course I thought that this year but they were so predictable, we could put 9 in the box.

You have certainly owned the Hawks. Won't get an argument from me there. On the football side of things it's disgraceful, on the basketball side it is earned. Hoiberg is a better coach, has better players, and clearly knows how to get the most of them more so than Fran does.

Welcome back.

If Fran can learn how to coach and recruit he could make the match up a little more competitive. Until then it will always be one sided with Hoiberg in Ames

Same comments came from Hlas on his radio show last night. After admitting that he predicted the Hawks would win, mainly because of home court, he went on for 5 minutes talking glowingly about how good Iowa State is. He said the difference is confidence. Our players know the shots will go down, and they know they are going to win.

The problem with Iowa basketball is Fran isn't doing himself or the team any favors.

-Rotations are wacky. Fran seems to bench guys who start off cold. You gotta let guys shoot their way out of slumps. He seems more into making sure everyone gets their piece of the pie rather than play the guys he needs to for the win. Fred isn't afraid to sit a guy who is having an off night (BDJ vs. Alabama)
-Fran refused to change the fact that his bigs were coming out and trying to guard more athletic guys last Friday. If Woodbury tried to check Niang, he'd blow by him with ease.

If I was Fran, I'd start Jok, and Olesani...instant athletic boost.

I would agree completely with Hlas. The Iowa players have no confidence in their shots, and Aaron White isn't a shooter. He's effective at getting to the basket and knocking down his free throws. He plays his part. The biggest issue is the lack of a guard who can be a legitimate scoring threat. All of Iowa's guards struggle at the 3ball, and none of them are capable of consistently breaking down a defense in order to get to the bucket or kick it the open man. Basically they don't have a threat at either guard position and it paralyzes their offense.

I don't disagree with this, however, I would add that I think part of the reason Fran rotates so much is because he's trying to find someone who can knock down some shots and so far no one has stepped up.

Honestly I agree. Our abysmal football wins over Iowa are very satisfying socially, but less thrilling when they arent followed by more wins.

He needs to cut his rotation down to 8 at the most. The starters he has, Gabe and then pick two out of Jok/Ogelsby/Uhl combo

Okay I'll bite... Fran has been using this rotation (meaning numbers) for how many years now.... and its about no one stepping up?

IMO, its about Frans system... not the talent. Sprinkle in the low confidence Frans leads with and you see that in the team... it isn't a recipe for success.

I feel for Iowa.... My take on the game: Gessell is decent, really is... but hasn't developled (I'm putting that on Fran), White can't shoot outside (he passed on 3 open shots during our run from behind the arc), but does decent on getting off the dribble for a shot and foul.

The problem is Fran ... his system and who he recruits for it. Lick may have driven the program down ... Fran is keeping is marginal.

That's what happens when your recruiting stinks.
