I know we have these thread all the time, but what are some good rap songs/groups out there that are lesser known or just really good. I'm trying to update my ipod alittle. I listen to old and new (N.W.A., Wiz Khalifa, Run DMC, Lupe Fiasco, ECT.) Please post if you like rap/hip hop don't clog up the thread if you don't. Please post songs below.

Thanks,

I have listened to a lot of rap when I was younger, but this was one of my favorite, none of my friends owned album, had some great guests, great beats:

I don't know how extensive your collection is, but I know you're young so you may not know A Tribe Called Quest.

I would consider most of this to be more hip hop than rap, but it might be along the lines of what you're looking for.

Blue Scholars, Common Market, El-P, Cage, Aesop Rock, Sims, Atmosphere, Eyedea & Abilities, Jurassic 5, tech n9ne, Cunninglinguists, The Cool Kids, Guru, Chiddy Bang, DJ Quik, Grayskul, Immortal Technique

Scenario is lyrically probably my favorite song of all time. The verses are very, very impressive. Q-Tip drops it on that song, even Busta has a great part.

I liked the old east coast stuff from the late 80's/early 90's. Groups like Eric B and Rakim had actual drums and bass lines in their music....it sounded like it was played live, instead of produced noises and sounds from a studio.

Also loved DJ Kwik(sp?), and N2Deep from that era as well.

Eminem's last album "Not Afraid" was SICK.
Wiz is up and coming...should have a good career.
Weezy has a new album coming out in May.
Drake is pretty popular.
Kid Cudi is a nice change of pace...kind of more laid back.
Nicki Minaj can kill it and her album Pink "Friday" is pretty good.
