I watched the OK/ISU game with a couple (who are friends of ours) that went to OK. The entire thing was enjoyable. Sometimes I even think when friends cheer for rivals it's worse because they aren't afraid to hold back.

We basically sat around hating on KU fans, making fun of Scott Drew and legitimately complimenting each other's team and enjoying the back and forth nature. We both agreed we were excited to get a split in the series.

F*ck KU and their elitist attitude.

That being said, I hate KU basketball fans but they don't even come close to the level of obnoxiousness as a Hawkeye fan.

OP, why do you have OSU at #4? I have nothing but good things to say about OSU basketball fans, have had some great conversations with them over drinks at the Big 12 tournament on multiple occasions, even when their team is good they are still a pretty humble and respectful fanbase I think. I'd put them in the bottom 3 of the list.

KU and WVU are definately the 2 worst and you can probably put us and KSU at 3 or 4 depending on whose fanbase is giving the perspective. I doubt you would find a fanbase in the conference that doesn't view KU as the most obnoxious and WVU right behind them other than KU themselves.

As much as I can't stand the Hawkeye fans I'm going to disagree with you on this one. If you are talking strictly basketball it's KU hands down because Iowa is so up and down when it comes to basketball their fans only care when they are good otherwise it's "we only care about a real sport like football." Even if you factor in all sports I'd still rank KU above Hawk fans because KU basketball fans don't know what having a losing team is like while at least Hawk fans have to deal with disappointing football teams from time to time that quiets them down once in awhile.

Disagree, KU basketball fans might be worse than Iowa fans. But its probably a push so **** them all.

Two reasons I dislike(d) anything about WVU:

1. Eron Harris but he transferred to MSU.
2. Missing game starts due to their 2.5h games in the 6pm slot.

I can think of a lot more for KU and KSU.

Mostly all of the fans I've met in person from other schools are cool. It's the internet tough guys that give fan bases bad reps.

I can see how ISU fans could be seen as really annoying to other fan bases because we boo so much at every call, since 2013 especially we have been paranoid about refs giving the other team the game, and because we are more visible in the last five years because we're winning again.

I'd say that, based strictly on what I hear watching games on TV, West Virginia's fans are the worst. I wonder who they're going to pick on when we go to Morgantown. Has to be Niang, right?

I'll take this opportunity to say that I bought a "Beat Texas" shirt before ISU's football game against Texas in 2011. Before the game, an old couple wearing Texas gear walked passed me and smiled, and I felt like crap for wearing that shirt, so I haven't worn it in public since. It's hard to hate people who don't hate you back.
