At this point in the season, my opinion is that the really good teams are getting better and know who they are and what their identity is. At best, I would give ISU a C on both of those things.

So I went into yesterday's game thinking that this was either the start of a Hawkeye late season swoon, or given the recent focus on offense we'd find ourselves - and then have the refs steal it from us late. Wrong on both counts, and given the next paragraph you can guess what my expectation was.

I've been working so hard lately I'm exhausted and at game start time I was actually asleep. I've NEVER done that before. When I woke up we were down double digits and I continued to doze in and out for a little while. When I finally really looked, all of a sudden we were down six. Got my attention and I came to life.

The adrenaline built and I can assure you my entire neighborhood knew I was awake. But when DJ hit that last three pointer... I jumped up into the air, did a double leg kick multi-fist pump while screaming YYYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!. I was pretty impressed with myself. Didn't know I could still do that.

I love these kids and the joy they sometimes give me...

Any good stories what the rest of you went through???

I left home at halftime to go to sectional wrestling at our high school gym. It wasn't necessarily that I was giving up, but I didn't think our odds were great either. I damn near tipped over when my 9 year old called me with 6 minutes left and told me we were leading. I started following on my phone from there. He called me again with 7 seconds left to give me play by play of Monte's free throws. He had no doubt that Monte was going to make those and we were going to win. It's fun to see sports through the eyes of a young Cyclone fan that still believes everything is going to go our way. He called me just as I was leaving to see when I'd be home, and had the recording all ready to go when I got there so we could watch the 2nd half and OT together. God I love that kid.

Sidenote: I am now 2-0 this season following games on my phone at our high school. I was there watching a basketball game the day we beat OU on the road. It's going to seem odd when I call our AD to be let in the gym when there's nothing going on so I can pull up road games on my phone.
