Ramos calls out Brands

Give him props for standing up to him for sure and putting Brands on blast. This isn't a good thing for Brands. Wonder where this goes from here? Sounds like Ramos is leaving for sure.

Gotta be a little uncomfortable for the Brands brothers, since Ramos is still on good terms with Terry. Ramos is a very recognizable guy that all young wrestlers know, so this is not a guy Iowa wanted to lose support from.

Ramos would be hellacious on the recruiting trail. He still has another trials left in in him. Bring him onto the staff KJ.

I'm with Brands on this one. Ramos has ALWAYS been a poor sport in victory, and an awful sport in defeat. Take the L and move on man.

No way I want him in Ames.

Totally agree. He's a mini Brands and the definition of the the type of guy I wouldn't want anywhere near the program. Not as part of the CWC or coaching. There are lots of Iowa alum I wouldn't mind in the CWC, and and there are pre-Brands Iowa guys I wouldn't mind as part of the staff, but guys like Ramos can go be knuckehead bullies elsewhere. Brands and his disciples are relics of the past who poorly understand what made Gable great and think they can replicate it by being intense ********. Guys like Dresser and Ryan are much better offshoots of the Gable tree.

Not really what I want either. You are talking a guy that while in Hilton, almost ended up shoving a guy off an elevated match. Then while leaving, gave the one finger salute to the isu crowd.

I dont understand how he thought no one was going to be in DDs corner. And Morningstar eating with Dennis? They were teammates at a point and very possible old friends.

Not really a wrestling fan, but my thoughts after reading thru, with regards to 'if he wants to beat Iowa, I'd take him"....I'd say this looks like "your enemy's enemy is not necessarily your friend."

Did he do the double Ramos while staring down Dennis after he lost?

I do give him some benefit here because he just lost what he'd been working at for a long time, and I'm sure he'll reconsider a lot of what he said in a weak moment. But I don't give him a lot of sympathy because he's somebody who has gone out of his way while competing to be an *** and I find his theatrics to be downright distasteful. If he only pulled out the Double Ramos thing after a big win then whatever, but he did it when beating up on D-III guys and scrubs. He apparently handles losses as gracefully as he handles wins.

Not good for Iowa but Ramos is a ****** (Summers Eve). He reminds me a lot of Steve Mocco.

When I first saw the video this morning, I thought **** I'd take him. He did come right out and say the loss was on him. He owned up to that, I'll give him credit for that. We can always use more lightweight partners in Ames.

After thinking about it for awhile, his comments go against everything wrestling is about. If you want to be the best in the world, you have to start by being the best in your wrestling room. Having McD and Dennis both in the room, he should have been wrestling both those guys everyday to get better.

Yeah, I didn't understand his comment "would Burroughs want to have Dake or Taylor in his room? Probably not."

A wrestler is only as good as his training partners prepare him to be. That is what makes wrestling a "team sport".

I thought Ramos was off all day. I wonder if it messed with him mentally. He was not the best option yesterday for the Olympics.

Also, IF and I think a big IF, Ramos was an option at Ames, Coaches need to talk to Earl Hall about the situation

Ramos is an ***. He always has been. It's hilarious to see the Iowa style of pushing and bullying go by the wayside. For a lot of these guys, their entire identity is built on that style. When it's no longer a style that wins, this is what is left. A lot of whining and crying. For as tough as wrestlers are, a lot of them act like children when things don't go their way. They live in a weird bubble.

I do feel bad for him that he made those comments were made publicly rather than in private. He made them in the heat of the moment after a crushing loss and I be he already wishes he'd held back. His whole life was focused on making the Olympic team and he just lost that. For that I do feel bad for him. But that said, I'm glad that he isn't going to be representing our country at the Olympics. I don't expect guys to be little angels but Ramos personified the Brands style of late pushes, extracurricular stuff that bends the rules, and needless bullying. I'm glad to see that style finding less and less success.
