For a city the size of Des Moines with an ever growing younger working population along with several colleges, and of course ISU; why does Des Moines radio seems to cater to older adults, 40 something females, and retirees?

I know we have Channel Q and Kiss 107fm, but what about Urban and Rhythmic music that is so popular with younger working professionals and minorities?

This probably isn't what you're looking for but it is something different.

KFMG 99.1

I nice mix of programing and varied music. You can listed at 99.1 FM or on-line. Only downer is that it's a low power station broadcasting from downtown. Very limited range to immediate Des Moines area only.

106.3 had a short stint as an "Urban" station a few years back.

I actually like what 106.3 plays now, along with 88.7. 88.7 is more of modern rock though.
