I see that the brewers are going after Cory Provus to team up with Bob Uecker for their radio broadcasts.

Brewers narrow search for radio voice | brewers.com: News

Who is your favorite baseball radio voice?

I love Uecker, but there is nothing like listening to a big play with Santo...especially the bad ones  Santo just has a lot of emotion when calling a game.

Cory Provus.....I dunno, just doesn't seem to have the right type of radio voice. He does OK when he takes over for Pat for an inning a game, but nothing spectacular.

Ron Santo and Pat Hughes..but then again I'm a freak'n homer and will always lean towards my preferred team when answering any question.

I have never been a fan of the one inning Provus thing, he seems a little to polished, which sounds weird, but it isn't like he is having a conversation with me, instead he is telling me about baseball. Pat talks with me about the game, and no one paints a picture like Vin Scully.

Pat Hughes is great but Vin Scully is tops. As much of a cubs fan that I am, Santo drives me crazy when the cubs are not playing well. Love him when they are winning.

Charlie Steiner does a good job for the Dodgers when Vin is on tv. A lot of people don't know that Jon Miller (ESPN Sunday Night) is also the radio voice of the Giants, and one of the best in the game.

I liked the team of Ed Farmer and Steve Stone last year for the Sox. Farmer has a really dry sense of humor and it usually is right on. Stoney always teaches you something you never knew about the game. He's really going to give the TV broadcasts some credibility (no offense to DJ, I liked his contributions too).

Got to agree with a lot of people on here, Uecker is great.

Makes me wish for the day when Steve Stone can team back up with Len... No offense to BB... He does a good job.

DJ is gone? Might make the Sox TV telecasts bearable to watch with Stoney there instead. MIGHT. Still have that other dope in there.

Stoney and DJ essentially traded spots. Farmer and DJ will be the radio team now.

My favorites are Scully, Uecker, and John Rooney.

You're right about that - until the White Sox realize that they employ the worst announcer in the game, their games will be unwatchable. They'll still be bad, but your ears won't bleed from having to listen to his dumb-***. Hawk is the only announce I've heard of with a website dedicated to his removal.

Trying to find it on YouTube......the game last season where the Cubs were down by one in the 9th and Ramirez hit a game winning 2 run HR....Hawk was silent for something like 45 seconds before they went to commercial. It was hilarious.

I second the Vin Scully post. I could listen to that guy read a Psychology text book and be entertained.

I think Pat Hughes is very good as well. It always makes me laugh when he has to steer Ron back to civilization after one of his colorful remarks.

If you have Sirius/XM try to stay up and listen to a Padres game sometime. One of their dudes (Ted Leitner) is an odd fellow. It's hard to explain, but give it a shot and you'll either like the guy or want to punch him in the face.

Just curious...how many people on here still listen to baseball on the radio?? Or any sport for that matter?
