Can anyone answer these questions?

Are the communication capabilities turned off in the QB's helemt after the play is sent in or is it turned on all the time? If it is turned off, who controls that?

I believe it is shut off by the NFL at like the :10 mark of the play clock.

If it wasn't shut off, someone could be yelling at him that someone is coming from the back side.
