Problems with tulips

So...the weeds of the flower world? I don't think it's actually possible to kill lilies or hostas. Even I can keep those alive.

My point exactly. Gardens and I are NOT friends.

My parent's hostas just exploded out of the ground this week. In about 4 days they went from sprouts to leafy 7 inches.

I thought they were annuals also. I've never had them return. I usually throw a few in around the other stuff to get a little more cheap color.

I looked it up - they're annuals in zones 9-11. So basically, not in Iowa.

Annuals only last one season, while perennials return every year.

Every flower is technically an annual or perennial somewhere, depending on climate.

Tulips like cold winters and hot summers. Zone 9-11 don't have cold winters.

I was responding to someone talking about petunias, not tulips.

Edit - but I should have put that they (petunias) were PERENNIALS in zones 9-11, so you got me there!
