I love the stadium upgrades that have been going on, but I still think we have a subpar press box. Maybe they should just add 2 smaller press boxes on each side. I don't know, but it looks out of place with all the new things going on in and around the stadium. And it bugs me on NCAA Football 14. Looks funny.

You're not wrong, the press box is lacking. But the upgrades are being made and they're being made in the correct order. My advice is give $$$ and be patient.

How does this press box affect ISU? Not sure I care

Self esteem. We have "Pressbox Envy."

I don't know that we need a new press box from a stand point of housing press or having donor suites, but it really does look weird.
Agree. Hopefully we can get to the point that we need more suite space and a press box makeover is necessary.

You should. Recruits want to come to a "legit" program and everything that we can do better than the other guy helps. That includes the stadium and yes, the press box. Imo we're almost there with the stadium. The Sukup's gave us a tremendous gift with the SEZ. Increase the press box size to match the average of the conference and we're good. But like I said, the press box is located where it's at on the "to do" list for a good reason.

We do need a new press box but it is last on the list...It will get done i’d Bet within next 5 years.

The next time I hear a recruit say I chose X school because of their press box it will be the first time.

Agreed, the pressbox does need to be redone at some point, but right now they seem to be focused on enhancements that improve things for the student-athletes which I think is the right thing to do.

OP must be a Hawkeye. That’s the only thing I ever hear about from my Hawkeye buddies about our stadium. “Yeah but your press box hahaha.”

Jamie has mentioned that he doesn’t have any thoughts on the press box. Doesn’t consider a need there.

I agree, I don’t really care if we do anything with it. Seems like some underlying issues here. We have some pretty nice facilities.

The scale is out of whack...it's too small. And you're right regarding need for donor suites (lack, thereof). My idea would be to build structures flanking (and connecting to) the press box that would be used for some other purpose; storage, vehicles, rentable space? It'll take either time or out of the box thinking to get that mass to look right...

I agree. But everything must be taken together, many parts that comprise a whole. Things that aren't strictly part of the coaching staff do matter. If they didn't we wouldn't make upgrades.

I agree the scale and mass is way off. I think it would look much better as a single level running 3x the current length. I’m sure this would've added to the initial cost of construction, though. At the end of the day, a revamp isn’t likely to come up until additional press or suite space is needed.
