Your take is spot on. The only thing I will add is that teams who are willing to drive the lane, instead of settling for jump shots, get the most calls. When foul disparities occur, its generally because one team was more aggressive on offense than the other. The bolded statement is absolutely wrong. That kind of thinking is what can make games in the past against West Virginia lopsided.
The important thing is being consistent. If something is a foul on one team, its a foul on another team. If one team is far more aggressive and physical, they are probably going to commit more fouls.
Are we really preemptively complaining about the refs 26 hours before the game?
Smart move, laying the groundwork for a loss being the refs fault.

The best officials are the ones you forget are there.
Certainly rules out HollywoodThe best officials are the ones you forget are there.
Actually, I was. Not only is the Big 12 considered the "best" conference...... it's also considered the roughest!
Here's what I am looking for:
Don't start out letting everything go to the point it has become dangerous for both potential injuries and potential frustration outbursts, only to realize you are not maintaining control and THEN start calling ticky tacks.
I believe players (and coaches) DO need to adjust, be consistent so they can adjust.
Please let the refs in the correct position make the call...... do not let the ref in the INCORRECT position over turn calls.
Please do not let one coach ride your ear all game. Set your boundaries with them also..... no matter which coach it may be.
It's late in the season in a tough league, set your boundaries and then LET THEM PLAY!
It's a hard gig and I know calls will be missed and be wrong..... but in this league I would think calls should be pretty equal.
Other than a couple inconsistent flop calls, the refs were looking our way today.Overall, I'd say a very well-officiated game today that favored our style of play. Hopefully this bodes well for what to expect in The Dance (and seems consistent with prior year tourney expectations to "let them play").
Yeah....we can't have one of those games where Gabe gets a couple touch fouls withing the first 8 mins.I really don't care how the Big 12 tournament is reffed (tight or loose), but we would benefit greatly from a crew in the NCAA tournament if they "let them play".
Hate to say it, but it's the crew with the female ref - they haven't done us any favors all year. Hoping for Hollywood again for our game with the Beakers.Watching the UT/OSU game, this is the crew that I didn’t want. They are inconsistent and many times seems like they are paying attention to something besides the game.
Is that a rhetorical question? This female ref is garbage. Did you see that no call on hunter on that 3?
Neutral courts help this issue a lot. If KC isn’t that neutral, I like our chances even more.
