Well it looks like work has started on the new practice facility. Thats somewhat of a relief.:twitcy:

If the Big 12 stays together Oklahoma fans might poop themselves when they get to see all the improvements made since 2007.
I also wondered if it would be put on hold.
Good that it's getting built still, but I just wonder where the revenue to pay for it will come from if the worst case scenario happens.
I'll take it to mean that the people in charge feel confident about everything.......which is a good sign.
This may have already been discussed, but will this facility involve a tunnel (or something resembling a tunnel) for the players to run out of? Just curious...

According to Pollard, there will be a tunnel, but it will connect to the ramp on the west side of the Jake. The players will then walk down from there. He said there's too much stuff buried in the NW hillside of JTS to tunnel under there.

How much debt did this project require? I'm sure projected Big 12 TV revenue was included in paying off any debt incurred with this project. I can't believe they would spend September tearing up the ground putting in building footings only to have to stop everything in October when we no longer have close to what was budgeted from conference affiliation and TV money.
Wouldn't that be great for recruiting, to have recruits walk by a weed infested construction site. We could tell them here is where you would have been training if only we could have stayed in a BCS conference.

Pretty sure that becoming a Athletic Director at a Division I FBS-AQ university prolly has a question in the interview: "Can you think beyond tomorrow and plan appropriately?" I'm guessing they're comfortable with where we are or have good enough contingency plans that they went ahead.
They'll be dropping just over $20M for the project.

When the tailgate tour was in Omaha, Pollard was talking to a group of us about the new TV $$$$, and he basically said it was all spoken for with facility improvements. So you're right, I don't think they'd be moving forward with this if they didn't have complete confidence that the money will be there long-term - from the Big XII or elsewhere.
