ran across this and found it interesting...Former ISU AD Bruce Van de Velde, deputy athletic director for Lousiana Tech, was recently named acting AD and promptly employed a search firm to do his search for a new head coach...

I appreciate that JP does the coaching searches on his own and also marvel at how far our entire athletic department has come since BV

okay, then I was wrong...More importantly though I like where we are today as opposed to with BV.

I agree. BVD's various personality quirks prevented him from doing the job properly. You have to look forward to engaging with the fan base, as well as with the coaches and student athletes, to do the AD job.

I think the press release on the director's cup standings has quieted him a bit...what did it say, prior to JP's arrival we didn't rank and now we finished 22nd in the country?? Heck of a job JP!!

Louisiana Tech could do a heck of a lot worse than bringing Dan McCarney on board. Skladany's available for work, too. You've got to think Van De Velde's got them on some sort of list.

"We are hearing that the University is very interested in Terry Bowden (North Alabama Head Coach), Gus Malzahn (Auburn Offensive Coordinator), Brent
Venables (Oklahoma Defensive Coordinator), Ruffin McNeill (Former Texas Tech Defensive Coordinator) and Joe DeForest (Oklahoma State Associate
Head Coach/Speical Teams/Safeties coach). According to our sources, Malzahn is the front runner in replacing departed Head Coach Derek Dooley. We
are hearing that North Alabama Head Coach, Terry Bowden, will interview."

Can La. Tech. really afford any of these guys? I would think it would take a big money school to get them.
