With all the questions surrounding the offensive side of the ball and coach Messingham, I was curious to see the breakdown of how all of us fanatics feel about him.

Personally...I'm seeing some EERIE similarities between the loyalty that Coach Mac showed to Barney Cotton and what Paul Rhoads is showing Messingham. I just hope it doesn't end the same way.

Anyway, what are your thoughts!!!

I said be demoted. I don't think he's the best position coach in the world, but I don't think it would be beneficial to bring in a new position coach right now. Let Sturdy or Klenakis call plays the rest of the year as a tryout for next season and move forward from there.

Why do so many people want Klenakis to call plays? He needs to worry about getting the OL problems corrected before he even thinks about calling a play.

I guess Kenakis had better learn the practice of faith healing, because without guys getting healthy in about 10 days correcting OL problems are going to be moot. I'm not saying the starting OL is anything to write home about, but we're playing 2nd and 3rd stringers on the OL right now.

That's the reason I'm skeptical. He had a successful offense as an OC at Nevada and he has the most experience with the pistol offense of anybody on the staff.

With what I've seen so far I'd prefer Sturdy were calling plays.

Fire Mess. Either demote him to special teams coordinator or get him out of here.

Hire Sturdy as interim OC. If he sucks, hire a real OC at the end of the season.

I must have missed where out tackles got injured against UNI, oh wait I didn't miss that it was our starting tackles who couldn't even handle a UNI DE.

I just don't think I'm ready to give up on the coaches. I think the problem is player talent. I will say that If I see one more bubble screen, my head will explode.

Well, which would you rather have - the guy that had problems handling UNI's defense, or that guy's backup's backup?

On a serious note, I have not seen this big of an outcry to fire a coach since Dan McCarney in '06. Even the "fire Greg" stuff wasn't this bad.

What if it is on 4th and 4?
Iowa blitzes a lot more than they ever did with Norm Parker in the booth. If they blitz on 4th and 4 (pretty good chance they were going to as they've blitzed a lot of third downs so far this year because their defensive backs are awful) that's a home run ball. Alas, they didn't blitz and had it bottled up.

On another note, that was one of few passes Richardson actually delivered well in the first 50 minutes.

Do you know if Klenakis or Ault called plays at Nevada?

I won't pretend that I know the definitive answer to that question. However, with that being said, Ault created the pistol formation, and has mentored everybody who now uses it, whether in college, or the NFL. So, being the offensive wizard he is, my guess is Ault ran the offense and called the plays.

I could get my head around demotion vs firing, but I just can't see having your QB coach being your former OC that is likely a little bitter for being demoted.
