Since it seems like the new thing to do I thought I would add one that doesn't rip on a candidate. I really like Patterson, anyone with me?:biggrin9gp:

Yes, I am with you. There is really only one candidate I don't want and that is Norvell.

I posted way back when it was know we needed a new coach that we better go after Gary Patterson and get him.

As Jim Rome would say mocking Ozzie Guillen "Pssssst...Please..."
He didnt leave last year for Kansas St, where he is alumni. So i doubt hell leave for us.

If it's going to be an ex-QB, I say Brett Favre. Now there's a guy with name recognition! Who WOULDN'T want to play for him? And he knows how to win!

Bret could farm near Ames at same time. Match made in heaven. What happened to Sherman? He must have fallen out of the running.

What is up with MSU? They are stuck in Jail like Monopoly for their selection?

Being a Bears guy...I'd go for Jim McMahon, headband and all. There would definitely be a new attitude in Ames....100% badass! :biggrin9gp:

I think Patterson would be the best guy for the job. My only concern would be that he might have a pretty hard time convincing some of those Texas boys to come up north and play for Iowa State. It is different when you are pulling in the talent in their own backyard, but is he a good enough salesman to get them to come up and play in the fridge Iowa Novembers?

I would be THRILLED with Patterson, however I doubt we could get him to Ames.

Patterson would be great- won't happen tho. My source tells me that he has In Laws in Ames. He likes his ISU grad wife but doesn't want to live anywhere near the "out Laws". This is from a reliable source.
