The question that has consistently come to me about previous staff issues with success has been whether they “missed” on recruits or didn’t develop the recruits they got. Watching Matt Leo, Zach Peterson, and many others tells me that this staff is developing talent and that is so impressive, something missing in the past. What a great time to be a cyclone.

I suspect the subjects they are working with are better to develop.

I would add that Matt Campbell's recruits were a whole lot better than what Paul Rhoads was ever able to recruit...Rhoads basically did what a lot of coaches do...take the path of least resistance.....

CPR had his moments in recruiting.. he brought in some solid kids now and then... the biggest difference is cmc and staff look for kids at every level who want to get better and have it in them to want to be the best they can be.. Not every D1 athlete has that attitude...but also kids who want to pass along that get better mentality..

On the other hand, Rhoads never had one, let alone two 8 win seasons to work with. And his OSU upset was a drop in the bucket, compared to what Campbell has now to sell to recruits.

Big difference I see is when CPR got a 4 star like Lazard, there was a press conference with him yelling about other programs and such, and CMC has (to my knowledge) acted like it's an expectation, not an exception.

That was a one off, its not like he did it every time they got a good recruit. Can't have a football thread without bashing CPR though, can we?

What o said wo saying those words.

Don't you worry--there's things CMC has said/done that I didn't agree with as well...but what other 4 star receivers did CPR get?

I will echo what others have stated here: This coaching staff is probably better at developing players and recruiting better players than any that have been at ISU, ever.

There is no sense in bashing CPR, the guy did the best he could do, and was really hurt with the "end of the Big 12, KSU and ISU are going to the MAC" situation. If you want to bash someone, might as well go after Chizik. Hawk fans are still blaming the MBB coach from a decade ago for their program.
