That's not Coughlin's way. He's the NFL's version of Josef Stalin, and was this close to alienating his players and the New York fan base before they went on their Super Bowl run last year. What's a fineable offense on the Giants? Probably breathing wrong in Coughlin's direction.

I'm sure Plaxico was told the rules on day 1. Even if it was an emergency, it's not hard to call or have someone call to let someone know what's up.

Plus he did just get a huge contract, the least he could do was pick up one of his four cell phone and tell his boy Couf that he is a little tired and won't be making it to the meeting.
