After the Holiday, I'm actually rooting to go to the Pinstripe Bowl.

Yes, it's cold, and not in Texas. But personally I prefer NYC over Dallas, especially at New Years.

Who's with me?

Isn't this where K-State went last year? It is looking like we might be in the same Big 12 spot this year.

I desparately want us to go to Texas for recruiting purposes. Imagine what it would be like to flood the state with ISU supporters and have the opportunity to bring all those recruits (and their families) to a week's worth of ISU events featuring CPR!

I think we will have a much smaller fan base if we go to NYC which is why I am rooting for Dallas or San Antonio!

No thanks. We need to go down south because it will impact recruiting and it is warmer, meaning more Cyclone fans!

well i would go to any bowl other than that one... so not with you.

I'm not with you.

Holiday is my first choice. (of the ones i think are actually available, with another win or two maybe insight is in play and id prefer that)
Then texas bowls. (drivable, warmer, and in recruiting territory)
Then getting an at large bid (if we end up with more teams than slots) anywhere in the southern half of the US.
Then pinstripe.

Really have no interest in paying the costs to fly to NYC on new years ($$$), then hotels there around new years ($$$), to pay very high ticket prices (seriously, go look.. seats between the endzones on the first 2 decks start at $155), at a baseball stadium where the action is way, way far from the seats

Any bowl is good for the team, but for the kind of money id have to spend on pinstripe, id rather go spend it being warm on a beach somewhere.

I don't understand why the Pinstripe is even a Big 12 bowl. Who thought that was a good idea?

The lack of fan attendance will hit the ADs pocketbook as well, when they have to eat all the unsold tickets. I'd take just about any bowl over the Pinstripe.

Good question. That bowl should be a B10 vs Big east bowl. Or not exist at all, bowls are meant to be in warm climates.

Payout.

Actually flights to NYC are not too bad, especially compared to Dallas or San Diego. However the hotels and tickets are ridiculous. I am hoping for Insight, Holiday or Texas... I think that Holiday may be our best shot especially if we win one of these next two.

From basically everyone I have talked to they will go to any bowl except Pinstripe.

It would be hard to want to go to NYC for a bowl game. I cant imagine having any good seats in the house the way they set up the field.

Fly to Newark, stay in New Jersey, and take the train over to NYC. It is only expensive if you want to stay on Manhattan.

The "Hudson Line" goes right past Yankee Staduim on it's way to Manhattan.

If you aren't afraid of the rail system, it is a great way to get around New York, even late at night. I love being able to use a comprehensive public transit system.

Ring-a-ding-ding. You can stay in "Jersey nice" for less than "Dallas fair" and ride the train. The one other thing people fail to realize is that the Pinstripe has massive access to tourist interest. I think their gate was something like 38,000 last year. As long as we end up with a New York area school, and our fans keep Jersey in mind, tickets can be acquired for less than face value.

So if your only resistance is cost, it shouldn't be. Football in New York is its own thing, and if that game could tip the rare NY blue chip our way, I'm all for it. Texas kids already know about us. A bowl outside that state isn't going to significantly impair our recruiting trips or the pitch.

As much as I don't like football games in baseball stadiums, Yankee stadium is really amazing - a great venue, and NY at Christmas is special.

Having said that, I don't care if we end up in the Weedeater Bowl. I just want to beat whoever we get.

What I did find extra funny was on this week's Big 10 coaches call-in: about half the coaches made a case for why the Big 10 should get their "traditional" two BCS bids this year.

I think they are realizing that Big 10 Championship Game = Deflated Bowl Prospects.

Ultimately, that will work out for them, now that they'll get sent to appropriate bowls instead of artificially being boosted outside of their ability to compete. Still pretty funny.
