Photo gallery of Metrodome demo

I live about a mile from the Dome. While sitting on the couch yesterday, there was suddenly the sound of a loud thunderboom. I wondered all day what the heck that was! Now I know!

Looks vaguely familiar...

In all seriousness, unbelieveable.

I'm going to miss that place. Sure it was a dump for athletic events, but it's where I went to my first MLB game and first NFL game.

The Metrodome was a dump, but it was my dump.

Glad I saw at least 1 game there. They should let that Hawk couple have one last fling.

I agree it isn't the nicest stadium but I am still glad that I went there for a game (my first NFL game actually). I didn't realize they were already demolishing it.

Why would you call it a dump? I'm a Bears fan so I have no rooting interest but I never had a problem watching baseball or football there.

"Roof" came down on Sunday.

IMO, it was more about the stadium itself than it was the fan experience. The concourses were very narrow, with no sort of indoor "gathering" or "meeting" place. The concession/item line you stood in was always in the middle of the flow of traffic. People would cut in front of you constantly and, in some cases, you would lose your spot. Both games my family and I attended, it also took forever to get out after the game, especially when you're crammed into a sardine-can-of-a-line. From a handicap perspective, this was a major issue.

As for watching the games themselves, I didn't have a problem with that. There was adequate spacing for seating and the tiny scoreboards really didn't bother me much...except when they would show NFL red zone; you couldn't really see what was going on in other games. The players looked like tiny Lego people.

It's more or less a stadium features issue than it is a game watch issue.

It's a "dump" in comparison to other NFL stadiums. I'm a Bears fan as well, but never had a problem taking in a Bears-Vikings game there with my mom (Vikings fan).

And as a Twins fan, getting to say I was in attendance at game 163 is something I'll always treasure.

The difference between the Metro dome and most other new stadiums is the difference between going camping and not really caring about the surrounding crap and going and staying in a condo. Both are fun. One is just a lot cleaner than the other.

So I am guessing that they will implode the stadium before hauling it away? When will this happen?
No...unfortunately it's going to spend the next couple months being taken down. While it would be fun to be the one with the wrecking ball it sucks they can't implode it.

I never saw a game at the Dome even though I kept telling myself to get up there for a game.
The only NFL game I have been to was way back when the Giants were playing at Yale Bowl while Yankee stadium was being renovated and they were waiting for the Meadowlands to be built.
Vikings 31
Giants 13
It snowed the whole game.
