Here is an article about how disappointing the author things the PGA Championship was:

FOX Sports on MSN - Golf - PGA Championship a major disappointment

I agree with most of what he says, at least in terms of timing and weather.

The real thing that bothered me about the broadcast yesterday was how the comentators OBVIOUSLY wanted Sergio to win, and when he didn't, they had little to say about the fact that Harrington had just won his second major in a row.

They even went as far as to talk about how Sergio was certainly not being Sergio and was controlling himself well and not falling apart. WHAT? He hit the ball in the water on 17 I think it was and then ended up in 2 bunkers on 18 to blow it. He was exactly the same Sergio that he always has been.

I thought the same thing. The announcers love it when Phil blows up to lose a major yet they seemed to be annoyed when Sergio blew up.

I found it interesting how the gallery bailed on Ben Curtis while he was still in contention. I'm assuming they all jumped ahead to watch Garcia and Harrington. In the end, I guess they were watching the right group...

There just weren't that many people there to begin with, probably for several reasons. Weather, it was in Detroit, no Tiger, etc.

Ben has history and was still in it, I guess they might have thought they would be able to see him come up 18 if he was going to do anything.

In the end, the love for Sergio made me sick.

I thought it was one of the best golf tournies I had ever watched. I am a big Garcia fan and was pulling for him. Harrington was just great that final 9, shooting 32 on the back 9 (especially that 9 holes was incredible). Garcia didn't loose the tourney (he shot 68), Harrington won it.

I thought the announcers did a great job.

Garcia hit the ball in the water on 17 as stated, no reason he should have been trying to make that shot. Then he went in two different bunkers on 18. Harrington was in the bunker on 18 and ended up with par. While I agree that Harrington played an EXCELLENT back 9, Sergio in many ways gave it to him.

Edit: I don't think I was talking about 17 but rather 16 where the water came into play. 17 is the par 3.

Another Edit: Garcia hit a great shot on the par 3 17th, only to miss the put.

I'm a bit of a Harrington fan, but I didn't think the coverage was too bad.

You could tell they were somewhat pulling for Garcia - it's a better story. Just like Michelson and his futility before winning a major. But I didn't think they slighted Paddy at all. It was a little anti-climatic with Harrington not being in the final group as well.

Speaking of Lefty, some of those Crowne Plaza commercials are priceless. I thought the one where he was apologizing to the people he's hit was the best.

I want Tiger Woods back!

Golf just isn't the same without him.

I don't think his career is over. At least, I hope it isn't. From the brief things he's said since his injury, it sounds like he is working on his rehabilitation very hard, and I don't think he'd work so hard if he didn't have every intention of coming back.

I didn't really watch a ton of the event, but did catch the last bunch of holes.

What surprised me is that with Harrington teeing off and ending up in the bunker (and there were about a dozen of them at bend) that Garcia didn't ease up a bit and play it a bit shorter.

Hitting the tee into the rough then the 2nd into the bunker is what killed him. Perhaps he thought that a bogey was in the cards for Harrington after his tee into the bunker, and couldn't have expected him to hit such a great 3rd shot and great putt to par anyway.

And maybe there wasn't a look at the green if you laid up a bit.

But I'd have to say he was too agressive on his tee when Harrington opened the door for him.

The last hole was 500 yards uphill into the wind. If he laid back he couldnt have even gotten there in two, so driver was definitely the right play.

I agree......I just checked the Fed Ex Cup standings.........Tiger is still in first place, with only 6 events under his belt. Second place has 22 events and third (Lefty) has 17. Talk about dominance.
