Petey Article

I don't care what anyone says, I like Bryan Petersen.

He is the best 3-point shooter on our team, hands down.

Like him all you want, but we're never going to be near the top of the Big 12 if players of his level see serious minutes. He's a nice bench player, but for anyone to use "indispensable" and "Bryan Petersen" in the same sentence is a sad reflection on our basketball program.

One of my favorite basketball players I've seen play for ISU. He's not that athletic, lacks size, and will never be considered a "great" player, but you can not tell me or anyone else that he does not put his heart and soul on the line for ISU every time he steps on the court. His hustle and heart are what allows him to play in the Big 12.

I'm glad he's sticking around.

I believe, on this years team, those statements in the article are true. And YES it is sad.

This attitude among our fan base is why our athletic department will always be inferior to the rest of the Big 12. I appreciate the hustle and heart too, but I guarantee no one has a thread going on a KU or OU message board glorifying some scrappy player.

When we were good we had stars: Tinsley, Fizer, Willoughby, etc. Our "hustle" guy some of those years was Paul Shirley and even he spent time in the league. Once we figure out we're not in the MVC and we're in arguably the premeier athletic conference in the county we'll have more to cheer about. Part of this will start when we lose the infatuation with home-state "hustle and heart" players.

BP is like that saying from the rock...Losers always whine about their best, winners go home and  the prom queen.

BP gives his best and is a nice guy.

BP doesn't really have the talent of a Big 12 player, but he is smart and knows how to play the game. GMac made a good choice in having him come back because I think he'll be very benifical to helping the other kids develop their game. He lacks the skill set, but that's it.
