I really don't understand why we (or anybody) let's a team that is behind roll the ball up the floor and use no time on inbounds. KSU prob had 20 possessions were we just stood there on our defensive end. Show token pressure and it takes another 3 seconds off the clock. That is a minute we could have cut off the game.

Great win boys.

A set defense is a wonderful thing. Pressuring that rolling ball too hard and getting beat leads to pass-pass-pass-pass-bucket. This is a very intricate and well-coached game.

Oh, you mean like this?

Agree. I've thought that for years especially from the perspective of the team that is behind. You're letting the other team dictate everything. Go challenge them and try to take some control back.

I imagine the thought is the couple seconds you'd force off the clock isn't worth someone being out of position on defense.
I'm sure that may be the thought but having someone in the frontcourt to force them to pick up should not be a big deal and stop that from happening 6 times and that is at least one possession and maybe a very important possession..

I think this should be handled like any other inbounds play; a team has five seconds to get the ball into play. The refs need to start counting to five when the inbounder touches the ball and rolls it onto the court. The team-mate would need to pick the ball up by the end of the five count. If not, the ball would be turned over under their basket.

The rule is already there, it would just need to be enforced.

Baylor did that a lot a couple of years ago. The problem I see is it gives them extra time on their offensive set. Make them pick up the ball and take time off of the front court possession

When I saw the thread title I thought for sure you were about to say it drives you bonkers how referee's will repeatedly let call after call go in the 1st half of a game. But in those final 5 minutes if you unintentionally even bump elbows the whistles getting blown. Either call sh it the whole game or let em play but this down the stretch whistle every possession stuff has to stop. If it's a foul it's one thing, but the same stuff isn't a foul in the first half.

A buddy and I talk about this ALL of the time. I texted him when K-State was doing it with 3 mins to go in the FIRST HALF.

Rick is right, Baylor does this all of the time.

Because when you move towards the ball the other team picks it up with decent forward momentum and you have to stop and back pedal. This leaves you in a tough position. It happened a couple times last night.

Ive always wanted to see a turnover on the ball roll...just once in my life.
LAST NIGHT you missed one then! I saw some of the end of the Seton Hall win over Creighton. Creighton rolled the ball up to keep the clock from starting and SHU's Khadeen Carrington picked it off for a lay-up (and one, I believe). The announcer called it a "pick six".

Maybe a dumb question but what is the point in rolling the ball? The same thing can be gained by letting it bounce. What advantage is gained?
